I spent quite some time preparing this Suzuran outfit, with the most effort going into crafting the animal ears and tail. Moldable aluminum wire was inserted inside the ears so their curvature could be adjusted to match various angles; securing them to stand upright naturally took considerable tweaking. The tail was stitched from plush material with substantial weight, requiring careful repositioning while sitting to avoid crushing its shape. The wig features light golden long straight hair that needs regular upkeep; before shooting, I added gentle waves with a curling iron to blend with soft bangs, aiming for a fluffy, endearing look. As for the outfit, an off-white ruffled cardigan pairs with a light blue skirt, highlighted by crisscross lacing down the side as a finishing touch. I initially worried the lace might snag on grass, but it held up nicely. The pink ribbon bow at the neckline was tied with comfortable tension to maintain structure without tightening. For makeup, I opted out of reddish eyeshadows in favor of an earth-toned base, emphasizing clean eyeliner and green contacts to keep the gaze clear and innocent. A natural milk-tea lip tone finished the look, avoiding heavy glamour to align with her fresh, healing aesthetic as an Animal-eared girl.

Sunlight on the shooting day was fantastic. Around two or three in the afternoon, dappled light filtered through tree canopies onto the grass, creating gorgeous light-and-shadow play. The photographer encouraged me to leverage this natural light—for instance, in the first photo, raising an arm to shield part of my forehead allowed sun dappling to fall across cheeks and eyelashes, giving the skin a translucent glow. The woven wicker basket was a highlight of the styling, holding a few daisies and a black-and-white big-eyed plushie; cradling it offered a natural resting position for my hands. The wooden staff prop, originally meant for resting on the ground, lay at my side while seated to enhance the outdoor exploration vibe. The biggest challenge during the shoot was maintaining expressions. Dazzling sunlight combined with contact lenses caused an involuntary squint, requiring rapid eye adjustments before every shutter click. Furthermore, the heavy plush tail shifted my center of gravity forward during turns and standing poses to avoid leaning backward. For the semi-standing posture in the third picture, I tiptoed slightly to let the skirt drape naturally while visually elongating leg lines; black Mary Jane shoes paired with white ruffled socks provided a balanced visual contrast against the pale color palette.

Truth be told, this gentle and cute styling contrasts sharply with my usual bolder demeanor. During post-shoot selection, a friend teased that I was "forcing the cute vibe," but I believe that with refined makeup, proper styling, and genuine environmental interaction, exploring diverse aesthetics is precisely the joy of cosplay. To align closer with her character, I practiced subtle head tilts and two-handed basket clutches, relaxing my shoulders downwards to achieve a softer silhouette. I tested multiple seating postures on the grass, ultimately settling on the cross-legged side-sit in the first photo—it showcases skirt layering without damaging the tail structure. Though tiring, seeing those spontaneous candid snapshots in the final render made every effort worthwhile. The interplay of natural lighting imbued the entire composition with a lazy, warm afternoon glow, achieving crystal-clear transparency without supplementary artificial fill lights. Compared to precise studio lighting setups, I prefer dynamic Outdoor cosplay portraits under natural sunlight for their lively presence in Anime-style photography. Naturally, minor post-processing was applied to harmonize skin tones and ambient color temperatures for vibrant skies and lawns, while strictly avoiding over-smoothing to preserve garment fabric textures and fluffy fur density. This shoot offered valuable insights into styling animal-eared characters, suggesting that adding subtle metallic accessories next time could deepen visual layering further. All in all, sunshine, green grass, and a flower basket made for a fulfilling afternoon, capturing this energy-filled atmosphere.
