I've held onto this landscape set for quite some time, always believing that the narrative tension of horizontal framing is difficult for vertical shots to replace. Much like this Lily of the Valley dance gown for Focalors from Genshin Impact, a portrait orientation tends to lock focus strictly onto the figure, whereas a landscape frame sweeps the entire starry sky, the water's surface, and the distant background lights into the scene, building a complete narrative universe.

This was my very first night photoshoot, and collaborating with photographer Su Ziqing was an unforgettable experience. Night shoots are a massive test of lighting choreography and post-production craft. To achieve that ethereal weightlessness of the Hydro Archon dancing across water, we set up multiple fill lights along the shore. The hardest part of shooting over water is reflection control: we had to keep the blue-black fabrics and sheer chiffon looking translucent without allowing blown-out water glare to erase costume textures. Multi-angled side-backlighting wrapped my silhouette in a crisp, cool rim glow.

Costume details in this Lily of the Valley dress are richly dimensional. The dark navy bodice incorporates subtle jacquard patterns and golden branch motifs that gleam with exceptional texture under night illumination, while the blue gradient skirt hem, mirrored against water ripples, makes it feel as though currents are truly cascading down the fabric. The crisscross blue ribbons and lace arm sleeves, finished with an intricate choker, delicately framed my neck and shoulders even under dim lighting.

My favorite design element during the shoot was definitely the glowing butterfly props. To avoid stiffness in a wide horizontal composition, we used butterflies of varied sizes and depth of field, even placing some right before the camera lens for soft foreground bokeh to mimic magical light orbs. To capture that airborne leap in the first image, I rehearsed the wire-rigged harness posture repeatedly, stretching my body lines so my arms and long ribbons drew elegant arcs. Though I was shivering with cold, seeing the ripples and reflections in the final images made every second worthwhile.

In choreographing my movement to honor the Hydro Archon's divine status, I kept every gesture weightless. The hovering postures suspended just above the water in images two and four demanded extreme core stability while maintaining serene, divine composure across my face. In post-production, to heighten this levitating effect, the water reflections were meticulously retouched and luminous glow effects were added where feet met the water's surface, enriching visual depth.

From exploring my first night shoot to today, I have fallen in love with chasing light within deep darkness. In a landscape frame, I may occupy only a fraction of the canvas, but the surrounding starry sky, the gentle waves, and the luminous butterflies bring Focalors's story to full, breathtaking life.
