[Ganyu Cosplay] Classic Genshin Impact Character: Summer Modified Version Convention Log

Last weekend I finally found time to organize the photos from last year's Ido Anime Convention. Seeing these pictures sent by my friend instantly transported me back to the bustling convention scene. This time I cosplayed Ganyu from Genshin Impact, specifically preparing a summer modified outfit focused on being crisp and breathable.

When putting on this outfit, what satisfied me most was its overall tailoring. The black lace base layer serves as the visual center of gravity for the upper body, which, paired with white ruffles, preserves some of the character's original classical traits while enhancing convenience for daily wear and convention trips. The light blue long hair is the soul of this styling; head ornaments and bow-knot elements on both sides were matched as closely as possible. The two-piece sleeve cuff design creates a flowing feel when raising my arms, making overall movements look far less rigid.

The shooting environment that day was actually quite casual. Many people on site were visiting the convention to check in, so we found an area in the venue with very bright glass reflections. The floor was exceptionally smooth, even clearly reflecting the skirt hem and leg contours; this mirror effect was fantastic for photos. Later we moved to a booth paved with silver tin foil, which was super interesting—reflective materials instantly made the surrounding color tones feel more futuristic and sci-fi.

As I mentioned in my previous posts, these photos were basically candid snapshots taken by passing photographers. Anime conventions are filled with photographers carrying heavy gear; when they see a great look, they proactively ask if they can take a few shots. As a cosplayer, I actually thoroughly enjoy this "spontaneous encounter" shooting process because without the pressure of fixed posing, it often captures the most natural and relaxed moments.

In terms of movement, I paid special attention to engaging my waist and shoulder muscles. Because this dress's fabric is light and thin, large movements could easily cause wardrobe malfunctions or look unrefined; so throughout this shoot, poses were mainly subtle standing, slight side turns, or a single hand gently touching the neck and shoulder. This restrained posture actually made the character's visual silhouette look even more slender.

Now let me talk about a point everyone frequently mentions—showing off leg lines. In many people's impression, Ganyu's physique is tall and slender. To align with this visual effect, I chose nude pantyhose paired with clear kitten-heel sandals this time; compared to the original skin's leg covers or boots, this pairing better extends leg length visually, making overall proportions look more balanced. Many friends left comments saying "all legs below the neck!" As a cosplayer, receiving such feedback makes me extremely happy, because it proves that through outfit styling in this Anime-style fashion and posture adjustments, we successfully delivered the character's visual impact in real-life dimensions featuring Nude pantyhose long legs.

Lighting striking the silver tin foil added a cool yet bright texture to the photos. I think this is the most charming aspect of Convention photography: although the venue is crowded and there may be passersby in the background, as long as the lens focuses on the character, the light, shadow, and emotion of that moment become exclusively yours. Having accurate attire is really just the first step; what truly brings a Cosplay work to life is often the relaxation and confidence that the cosplayer invests into the character.

The entire afternoon passed in a rhythm of walking, stopping, and occasionally being stopped by people. This immersive experience not only satisfied my love for the character, but also allowed me to meet new like-minded friends. Although a year has passed, thinking back, I can still recall the gazes and compliments received while walking through the venue in this outfit; that sense of accomplishment is the driving force that keeps me doing cosplay.

I hope there will be opportunities in the future to bring this or new works to more interesting conventions and explore more fascinating shooting locations. After all, every anime convention is a wonderful journey for a cosplayer to briefly transform into an anime character in the real world.
