Slipping into this Kokomi bunny outfit and looking in the mirror, the very first thought that popped into my head became the caption for this post.
Choosing this theme was driven by a desire to experiment: what spark would ignite if I combined the calm, strategic Sangonomiya strategist from Genshin Impact with energetic, playful bunny elements? As a cosplayer who loves exploring the multifaceted nature of characters, this kind of subversive attempt often brings unexpected visual surprises.
The most effort this time went into the hair and makeup. I specially selected a pink-to-blue gradient wig—the pink section retains Kokomi's signature soft feel, while the aqua blue dip-dye underneath echoes her oceanic aesthetic. To complement the bunny ears, I trimmed the bangs to make the overall look crisper and lighter. For makeup, I opted for a slightly pearlescent base paired with purple contact lenses and a soft coral lip gloss, which alleviated the heavy feel of the dark collar while enhancing the lively sparkle in her eyes.
The deep blue neck collar serves as the visual anchor of the outfit, adorned with three pearls and a dangling teardrop sapphire that beautifully balance out the negative space across the upper torso. The main garment features a blue-and-white ruffled design anchored by a massive dark blue striped bow across the chest, which not only serves as a focal point but also visually elongates body proportions for an extra lively feel. To maintain neatness during Cosplay photography, I used transparent invisible shoulder straps; even when raising both hands to make bunny ear gestures in the third photo, the garment stayed perfectly structured without slipping straps ruining the composition.
For the shoot, I specifically chose a studio equipped with blue lighting effects. Cool-toned blue ambient light cast down across the setup added rich dimensional layers to the gradient wig and purple contact lenses. Coupled with dark filigree partitions in the background, it crafted a serene, profound atmosphere that naturally draws viewers into the nightscape of Teyvat. The lighting technician fine-tuned multiple lamp positions on-site to push this dreamlike cold ambient lighting to its absolute limit, giving the photos a richer narrative depth worthy of the Genshin Impact Creator Incentive Program.
To align with the Kokomi bunny theme, I designed several lively poses. Whether lightly touching the neck collar with one hand or placing clenched fists beside my cheeks as in photo three, every capture attempts to reveal traits outside her serious story persona. Honestly, performing these movements in this costume required technique; because the tailoring focuses heavily on chest and shoulder structures, controlling core strength was essential to prevent awkward wardrobe shifts, yielding some useful studio trial insights.
Preparing this look from makeup testing to final shoot took over a week. Matching the bunny ear headpiece with the wig required meticulous weight balance adjustments so it wouldn't tilt. Every time I do cosplay, I insist on personally recreating key character symbols while infusing my own understanding of their demeanor. In this styling interwoven with pink and blue hues, I hoped to express a slightly playful side that Kokomi rarely shows, communicated through relaxed eye expressions and soft lip color transitions.
I rarely attempt animal-ear styling with strong anime aesthetics, but this Kokomi bunny outfit allowed me to experience a whole new creative joy. Delving into details—like the placement of neck pearls and fluffy sleeve ruffles—tested my mastery of costume craftsmanship. Reviewing playback after shooting, I felt this interpretation held both Genshin Impact's core character foundation and my unique stylistic expression. This set poured my heart into character analysis, and I hope to present a more vibrant Sangonomiya Kokomi beyond her story quests.
