Shooting on Day 1 of Comicup 29 took a massive physical and mental toll, which was fully reflected in this Arknights Lin Yuxia cosplay styling. The experience wearing this costume was that it is incredibly rich in layers, but also exceptionally heavy. The black damask-patterned top paired with a wide obi-like belt, various PVC buckles, multiple layers of purple streamers, and bright blue wide cuffs made navigating the packed crowds physically draining.
Because the anime convention was packed with people on the day of the shoot, we finally managed to find a slightly open corner with railings. To capture the character's cool detachment and poised posture, I worked with the photographer to try high-angle overhead shots. The side-profile look-back with hands on hips in Photo 1 and the reaching-out pose in Photo 4 required repeated retakes due to shaky balance and the voluminous skirt pulling at my center of gravity. Most memorable of all were the two large double buns and tassel hair ornaments on my head, which posed quite a challenge for the neck.
Moreover, because the garments weren't breathable, several hours of shooting left me drenched in sweat—truly exhausted to the bone. However, seeing that innate cool and mysterious aura in the finalized photos, where the black-and-purple palette paired with the overall makeup stood out distinctively within the crowded venue, made it all worthwhile. Throughout the shoot, we constantly monitored the positioning of the fabric and buckles, striving to showcase the optimal gloss and sheen of the translucent skirt material and metal chains.
While this costume was difficult to wear, I truly grew to love it more and more, boasting a fantastic blend of techwear aesthetics and traditional styles. Reviewing the expressions standing by the railing during retouching made every bit of hard work feel completely worth it—a fulfilling and unforgettable anime convention experience.
