[Yao Guang cosplay] Recreation Convention Photos at the Star Rail Land Event

Choosing this Yao Guang styling to complete the on-site recreation at Star Rail Land, receiving these convention photos makes me feel that all the effort spent repeatedly tweaking makeup and accessories was truly worthwhile.

First, regarding overall styling, the light blue short hair serves as a key visual core for this outfit. To achieve the smooth, layered look shown in the photos, the wig underwent significant thinning and trimming during prep—especially the bangs, which needed to fall right between the eyebrows and eyes to flatter my face shape without obscuring the blue contact lenses. After putting in the lenses, to complement her ethereal yet cool demeanor, I opted for a clean, translucent base makeup. The eye makeup used earth tones to deepen contours without heavy shadows, blending seamlessly with the light blue iris color, while a soft nude-orange lip color lent a more approachable facial expression.

A major challenge in this recreation lay in the weight and layered stacking of accessories. The metallic neck ring across the chest features a complex structure embellished with cloud-scroll relief carvings and pointed metallic dangles. Wearing it required careful positioning to prevent flipping while walking or obscuring the aqua-blue pendant beneath. The red tassels dangling below the neck ring introduced a striking accent color into the predominantly white-and-blue palette—a color harmony that truly tested styling balance. The aqua-blue skirt possesses a luminous sheen, whose black, white, and blue feather-vane motifs generated gorgeous texture reflections beneath the convention venue's overhead lights.

The prop featured in this shoot was another major highlight: the massive feather-vane fan prop held in my hand combines a silver metallic skeleton with translucent feather blades, complete with blue-to-pink gradient details. To hold it steadily while maintaining a natural, graceful posture, I worked out various center-of-gravity balance points on site beforehand. Because the prop is quite wide, composition required conscious camera positioning adjustments from the photographer.

The dark blue plush fur shawl of the outer garment carries substantial visual weight, enhancing three-dimensional presence before the lens while imparting a touch of opulent elegance to an otherwise light outfit. The fluffiness of fur demands relaxed composure during shooting; draping the fur over my arms alongside white fingerless wrist gloves perfectly conveyed the character's dignified yet breezy, heroic elegance.

The venue for this shoot was inside the Star Rail Land event grounds, where foot traffic was quite heavy, with scattered greenery and partition railings in the background. To avoid background crowds and temporary structures, the photographer and I collaborated to find a slightly more open corner. Post-processing retained the authentic warm-white overhead lighting on site, which, combined with shallow depth-of-field blur from a wide aperture, isolated the subject beautifully from the complex convention floor background.

Lighting at anime conventions shifts rapidly and venue illumination can be complex; capturing ideal expressions and prop angles within moments demands precise shutter timing and depth-of-field control. Completing this Yao Guang recreation smoothly from Honkai: Star Rail and interacting at the event was a joyful experience, and feeling everyone's love for this outfit was deeply touching. Hairstyle, accessories, and makeup were refined through continuous adjustment until finding the sweet spot—seeing this clean, faithful representation in the final photos makes all the meticulous effort completely worthwhile.
