Today, I'm doing a Cosplay sharing of this black latex outfit styling shot on site at the anime convention. The material of this outfit is quite unique—a high-gloss shiny latex. As many know, capturing this material under the extremely complex ambient lighting of an anime convention is notoriously difficult; even a slight misstep can make it look cheap or result in a chaotic mess of glare. Therefore, before heading out, I deliberately applied specialized care oil to the suit, which prevented sticking while making the surface reflections much softer and more refined. To match the hardcore feel of this Cyberpunk style look, I toned down cute elements in my makeup, focusing instead on sharp, crisp eyeliner and well-defined facial contours.

Upon arriving at the venue, the crowds were massive and the background was chaotic. To get great Convention photos, I specifically sought out areas with wrapped Itasha vehicles. The high-gloss reflections off the car body and the intense headlights served as a natural reflector, providing excellent localized fill light for my latex suit. This time, I brought an exaggerated gauntlet Mechanical arm prop and a sci-fi prop handgun. The weathered textures and metallic components on the Mechanical arm prop looked incredibly authentic under the light, though it carried considerable weight—holding it up for extended periods was a huge test of physical stamina.

During the shoot, I attempted numerous tension-filled poses, such as leaning halfway across the hood, glancing back over my shoulder, and crouching with the gun drawn. Leaning across the hood in particular required engaging my core constantly to showcase the lines of my back, waist, and legs. Furthermore, the high-slit design naturally accentuated leg proportions in these poses, combining with the body-hugging silhouette of the black latex to exude a fierce, aloof aura. The grip of the prop gun gave me genuine conviction, making me feel as if I were truly standing on a futuristic battlefield.

Shooting on site at a convention is completely different from studio work, requiring immense agility. Most ambient light was flat illumination from neighboring booths, so I had the photographer look for side-backlit angles as much as possible, casting sleek rim lighting across the curves of the latex outfit styling to add three-dimensional depth. To avoid crowds, we experimented with tricky angles, even using cars as foreground framing. In post-processing, I dialed down the distracting surroundings and leaned into a cool-toned palette, highlighting the sheen of the latex and the mechanical grit of the props.

Executing a sci-fi and Cyberpunk style cosplay is truly no easy feat—from garment maintenance and prop assembly to scouting lighting on site and pushing past social awkwardness to strike theatrical poses, every step was a challenge. Yet seeing the interplay of light and shadow in the final shots made every drop of sweat worthwhile. This set represents some fresh attempts at lighting and tactile textures, and I hope everyone enjoys this style presentation in this Cosplay sharing!
