[Altria Cosplay] Striving to Restore the Majesty and Glory of the King of Knights

The photos from this King of Knights shoot are finally edited, so I'm sharing the shooting details and thoughts behind this set.

I had been preparing for this costume for quite a while. Considering Altria's iconic blue-and-white armor look in Fate and FGO, I put extra effort into selecting the gear. The entire suit of armor is made of lightweight plastic coated with metallic paint; together with internal padding, wearing it felt surprisingly heavy. In particular, the pauldrons and breastplate could easily make the upper body look bulky if posture wasn't well-controlled. To ensure a snugger fit against my body, I adjusted the connecting straps and buckles.

Next came the dress assembly. The dress was crafted from a rich deep-blue velvet, with the collar and cape trimmed in thick white faux rabbit fur. This plush trim held texture beautifully under studio and hall lighting, providing a rich tactile contrast against the cold, hard metallic armor. The cape extended past my calves and easily dragged on the ground; thankfully, staff on set helped manage it during the shoot. The golden crown and wig were pivotal to the look—the wig was styled into her classic braided bun and bangs, firmly secured with hairspray and bobby pins to keep it intact during movement.

For makeup, I opted for a cool-toned foundation for a pristine complexion, paired with green contact lenses to mirror her gaze. Bold, elongated eyeliner added a sharp, regal intensity to her expression. Although I mentioned an \"apology for OOC\" in my original caption, I strove through gaze and posture to channel the cool, confident composure fitting for the King of Knights.

For props, the illuminated sword was a huge highlight. Built-in LED strips inside the blade glowed gradually from hilt to tip, making it an absolute eye-catcher in dimmed indoor lighting. The hilt and crossguard featured a detailed blue-and-gold color separation. Holding the sword required wrist strength to prevent wobbling, projecting the grounded power of wielding a holy blade.

I partnered with photographer Lichen again for this session—his lighting control and compositional aesthetic are consistently fantastic. We intentionally incorporated the venue's industrial indoor backdrop, where neatly arrayed overhead round lights provided ideal ambient reflections. To emphasize regal authority and majesty, we utilized low-angle perspectives. Low angles naturally enhance a powerful presence, unifying the flowing cape, armor reflections, and glowing sword into a harmonious frame. For a clean final render, background crowds were cleaned up in post-processing to keep the visual focus entirely on the character.

Executing a complex, high-difficulty Fate cosplay like this involves fatigue and challenges, but seeing the final photos makes every effort immensely rewarding. Every polished detail shines through the lens. This post serves as a dedicated record of a passion project brought to life.
