Today on the Manchao ACG convention stage, I finally completed my Convention photos for this DIY Cosplay look of Cantarella Fisalia from Wuthering Waves. Crafting and sourcing materials for this costume took quite a long time; because it was a custom DIY Cosplay assembly, many details required manual recreation and fine-tuning. Getting ready backstage was genuinely nerve-wracking—stage lights are notoriously intense, putting makeup precision and fabric textures to a rigorous test. For this stage appearance, I did extensive preparation to ensure every single detail held up both before the camera and in person.
First, regarding the aesthetic design: Cantarella's visual traits are unmistakable, with long purple gradient hair and blue floral hair ornaments serving as the absolute soul of her design. I deliberately layered the wig to achieve a natural, fluid drape. For the garment, I selected a lustrous pale lavender fabric to tailor this halter sleeveless qipao dress. To harmonize with her signature style, I integrated embroidered gold appliqué patches and pearl chain accents. The frog closures and tassel details around the mandarin collar were meticulously refined to preserve delicate elegance before the lens. The armbands and draped ribbons were adjusted repeatedly to keep the overall silhouette flowing and graceful. The purple lace parasol was also custom-coordinated, edged with dense white ruffles to enrich visual layering.
The stage lighting at this convention was phenomenal; the massive blue backdrop screen instantly elevated the atmospheric mood to its peak. Standing under the stage spotlights with the purple lace parasol in hand, I felt myself slip completely into character. Holding the microphone to interact with the audience below, I thoroughly relished the connection and energy shared with fellow fans. The sweetest surprise was meeting Xiaxia offline! Reconnecting with fellow creators made me overjoyed—we chatted backstage for ages about our DIY Cosplay design ideas and stage performance experiences. Genuine face-to-face exchanges like that always spark fresh creative inspiration.
For me, every convention stage serves as an opportunity to test and validate my preparation. From wig grooming and makeup setting to facial expression control and stage blocking, every step demands deliberate practice. For Cantarella's makeup, I placed extra emphasis on red blending around the eyes, paired with vivid blue contacts, striving to faithfully channel the character's demeanor into the 3D world. While the preparation was exhausting, seeing how the frames turned out made every ounce of effort worthwhile. The choreography on stage also incorporated the parasol prop, making body language far more expressive.
DIY Cosplay is genuinely an exercise in patience. Off-the-shelf costumes on the market rarely meet one's exact vision, which often means modifying pieces by hand or constructing them from scratch. To achieve superior visual presence this time, I specifically customized that purple parasol edged in white lace; as a stage prop, it not only enriched the composition of the frames, but also allowed me to transition between poses naturally on stage. The convention saw heavy foot traffic, yet the moment the spotlights illuminated the stage, the surrounding world seemed to fall silent. Watching attendees in the crowd raise their phones to snap pictures, I focused on maintaining my best posture and executing every gesture with precision.
Many might think cosplay is simply wearing pretty clothes for photos, but achieving satisfying stage Convention photos demands deep character comprehension, garment tailoring control, adapting to dynamic lighting environments, and commanding real-time stage pacing. This Manchao convention stage offered a wonderful experience. I also exchanged thoughts with fellow fans on fabric maintenance and prop preservation. Hearing people call out the character's name from below the stage gave me that heartwarming sense of validation, which remains my greatest motivation to keep cosplaying. I am actively sorting through more Convention photos of this Cantarella Fisalia cosplay, hoping to present the most ideal results. While there is always room to refine the finer details, the stage experience gained here is truly invaluable.
