[Firefly cosplay] Honkai: Star Rail: Authentic Interactive Moments in Offline cosplay

For this anime convention, I tried out the look for Firefly from Honkai: Star Rail. From costume construction to accessory details, I invested considerable energy into mastering the overall texture. To faithfully recreate the in-game character traits, the wig was chosen as smooth, long straight white hair, topped with a matte black bow-shaped hair ornament, with special attention given to the subtle cyan-blue gradient at the tips—groomed for a long time across the defined layered tiers to ensure no details were lost even from behind.

In terms of attire, this cosplay costume features the signature black-and-white vest and ruffled neckline; the cuffs and collar trim carry a structured, crisp silhouette. The orange-yellow bowtie serves as the visual centerpiece, crafted from thicker fabric accented with metallic buttons so that it drapes naturally without going limp. On the lower half, a light-blue multi-layered pleated skirt is paired with internal lining for safety, complemented by dark purple matte tights—providing that classic Stockings cosplay texture. This material delivers a sleek sheen that hugs the legs under the light, further enriched by light-blue and gold intertwined leg guards and detailed strapping around the calves to add depth. The footwear consists of white criss-cross strap flats, giving the entire silhouette a clean, sharp look with armor-like refinement.

When the photo was taken, a fellow fan or photographer happened to step over to interact, holding up a peace sign toward the camera; I followed suit with the same gesture, capturing this frame in a seated pose. Although the post included an OOC (Out of Character) apology—since my natural personality is quite introverted and quiet, whereas Firefly in Honkai: Star Rail embodies both steadfast resolve and tenderness—I tried my best to project a livelier, approachable expression before the lens. Even if it didn't achieve 100% character recreation, I feel this touch of casual intimacy fits the relaxed and cheerful vibe of an offline convention perfectly.

In the background of the frame, you can see the venue's grey concrete floor and metal barricades, with event tables draped in royal blue tablecloths and black folding chairs set up behind—a typical setting for many Offline cosplay events. The lighting was very bright, relying entirely on the hall's natural ambient light and overhead fixtures. The hardest part of wearing this full gear was walking and standing for extended hours: because the shoulder-sleeve ornaments and skirt have noticeable weight, wearing it all day was definitely a physical test. However, seeing so many fellow fans on site and having fellow Trailblazers recognize the character and ask for photos made that sense of accomplishment instantly wash away all fatigue.

Regarding costume maintenance, before heading out I reinforced several accessory joints that were prone to coming loose, and took extra care during packing to avoid crushing the wig styling and bowtie. Such is the nature of Offline cosplay—you have to navigate crowded convention halls while constantly keeping your wig and makeup fresh, an experience completely distinct from a controlled studio shoot. Without specialized lighting or heavy post-processing retouching, candid Convention photos like this capture the most genuine, down-to-earth atmosphere. Being able to portray a beloved character in this way was a thoroughly enjoyable experience, and I look forward to more offline opportunities to share memories with fellow Trailblazers in the world of the Astral Express.
