[Firefly cosplay] Honkai: Star Rail weekend home try-on of new wig

Today I'm trying on this Firefly wig and outfit right at home. As a corporate slave, it's really hard on weekends to book a makeup artist and scout outdoor locations like back in my student days, spending the whole day fussing over it. Instead of lying flat in bed scrolling through my phone, it's better to use what's available, change into this simple and easy-to-wear outfit, and snap a few mirror selfies at home—kind of scratching that cosplay itch.
First, let's talk about this wig. The gradient from white to light blue-green is very translucent. After receiving the raw wig, I did some styling, focusing on trimming the bangs and sideburns. This wig doesn't put too much pressure on the scalp, and under indoor or natural light, the texture of the hair is quite good. When wearing it, tuck away the hairnet and secure the top with a few bobby pins, and it can basically hold up against the turning movements for mirror selfies. Even though it's just a wig try-on, details can't be sloppy; the smoothness of the ends needs to be tousled by hand to avoid frizz. If the top feels flat, you can backcomb the inner net slightly to increase the height of the crown, making the overall proportions more balanced.
As for the clothing, I chose a relatively everyday and wearable style: a white shirt, light blue bow tie, plaid pleated skirt, along with classic white pantyhose and black thick-soled loafers. This combination is very forgiving on body figures, comfortable to wear without feeling restricted, and even when taking mirror photos sitting down, the wrinkles of the skirt and the luster of the white stockings show off very nicely. The metal buttons and bow tie details on the shirt are handled well, but the main thing is lightness—it doesn't take much time to put on and take off. The thickness of the white stockings is moderate, and the elasticity is good. Paired with the small black leather shoes, the overall visual center of gravity is very stable.
Taking mirror selfies at home actually makes lighting much easier to control than outdoor shoots. I placed the mirror by the window, using side-backlighting to add depth to the frame. The white stockings look exceptionally textured under this kind of light, and the black loafers anchor the overall tone, keeping the picture from feeling too floating. The gaming chair and white carpet in the background serve as quite realistic home-stay elements, bringing out a sense of relaxation instead. When shooting, it's recommended to angle your body slightly, keeping one leg straight and the other bent to visually elongate the leg proportions. Hand gestures can naturally use the phone to block the face or pretend to fix the hair.
Many friends think cosplay must involve big actions and big productions. In fact, for office workers, this kind of small-scale wig and costume try-on is much more suitable for daily life. No complicated makeup needed, no location scouting required, focusing the attention on displaying the costume and wig. It satisfies the hobby without feeling overly exhausted. To get great photos, you can try adding a fill light outside the window or utilize indoor ceiling lights to ensure sufficient brightness on the face and clothes, avoiding a gloomy look. If the picture feels too monotonous, you can place some plush toys or merchandise nearby as accents.
