[Herta Cosplay] Honkai: Star Rail, the Purple Witch's Gothic Cosplay Photoshoot

This cosplay photoshoot focuses on the character Herta from Honkai: Star Rail. Right from the planning stage, we decided to highlight the gothic witch aura and gorgeous feel. In terms of clothing, that large pointed wizard hat with alternating deep purple and white piping serves as the visual focus. To keep the hat shape stiff, internal support processing was done, making it an excellent prop when posing as well. The striking silver keyhole lock decoration on the chest, along with the cross necklace around the neck, both add a sense of mystery to this look. The sleeves utilize a detached wide-sleeve design, where the black puffy cloth sleeves complement the white ruffles on the arms beautifully. When walking or raising hands, the flowing sensation of the sleeve hems is very strong. The light grey stockings on the legs and the cascading layers of black ruffled lace-up long boots elongate the overall leg lines.

This shoot specially prepared three entirely different scenes to correspond to different facets of the character.

The first set was shot amidst a combination of pure white and a sea of flowers. In front of a white grand piano surrounded by piled pink and white roses, combined with soft natural light, it creates a highly aesthetic and gorgeous magical girl atmosphere. During the shoot, I lifted the wide hat brim with one hand and slightly tilted my head towards the lens, hoping to catch that playful yet slightly lazy feel.

The second set switched to a dark-toned style, where the background was composed of a wine-red velvet curtain and a gorgeous retro leather sofa. Sitting on the sofa, I slightly tilted my body and extended my legs sideways out of the frame, coordinating with the golden carved borders and deep red base color to exhibit a mature and lazy feel completely different from the first set. The black boots and complex skirt edges have an exceptionally delicate texture under this warm light.

The final set leaned towards a mysterious and gloomy atmosphere. A massive black cross background interwove with deep purple ambient light, serene and carrying a touch of dangerous theatricality. The pure black background paired with highlights cast from the front made the character's silhouette appear sharper.

When shooting the picture holding an envelope, it perfectly matched the character's genius-like setting. Imagining that I was about to mail an experimental report containing a major discovery, I looked down slightly at the edge of the envelope with an empty expression. This group of photos transitions from cool aloofness to mystery, showcasing the contrast between Herta's intellect and witch style outfit charm as much as possible.

For the makeup part, a purple large-diameter colored contact lens was chosen this time, maintaining high unity with the hair color and costume color palette. The lip color leaned toward a nude pinkish-orange, reducing the heavy feel brought by the black, white, and purple tricolor clothing. The trimming of the wig and the curve of the bangs were also meticulously adjusted to prevent them from obscuring the eyes while preserving the youthful feel of straight bangs.

The overall shooting process went very smoothly, with the on-site staging and lighting assistance allowing this cosplay photoshoot to present a high level of completion. Whether it was the bright and magnificent flower sea or the deep gothic-style dark room, pairing it with this costume featuring an iconic large hat and exquisite waist-cinching design collided to yield wonderful visual effects under the camera lens.
