[Ryuge Kisaki cosplay] Blue Archive: Dual Charms of the President and 'Kisaki-chan'

For this Ryuge Kisaki cosplay shoot, I chose her iconic modified Qipao layered with a pinstripe blazer from Blue Archive. I've always had a huge soft spot for Kisaki—she is both the commanding student council president and the adorable, slightly mischievous 'Kisaki-chan,' so my goal was to express both facets within a single photoshoot. Regarding the costume, this dark blue modified Qipao was custom-tailored with faithfully recreated mandarin collar and frog button accents, boasting gorgeous golden embroidery along the chest and hemline. To introduce visual layering, I draped an oversized gray pinstripe blazer over it. For hair and makeup, odango buns were accented with blue butterfly ornaments, while the eye makeup deepened reddish blending around the outer corners, bringing out an alluring yet tender gaze.

The shoot took place in a white studio, utilizing cool-toned lighting to complement the overall ambiance. For props, we prepared a vintage black combination lock briefcase, which perfectly fit the President's capable and crisp persona. Posing-wise, we explored several contrasting moods. In the kneeling over-the-shoulder look, the focus was showing off the half-slipped blazer alongside the black stockings and high heels, injecting subtle sensuality into the sleek corporate aesthetic. The seated shot captured the poised President: legs neatly crossed, hands clasped, holding the briefcase to radiate authoritative executive presence. Later, we captured a full-body standing shot holding the case, where the closed blazer fell like a gown to showcase the garment's tailoring.

Throughout the session, I continuously pondered how to shift expressions before the camera—balancing the President's quiet majesty while periodically letting Kisaki-chan's playful cuteness slip through. This intentional contrast was the greatest joy of the shoot. While adjusting the kneeling and profile poses, fine-tuning the angles of the stockings and heels took considerable time; the white studio floor was quite hard and prolonged kneeling was tiring, but seeing the lighting texture in the results made every effort worthwhile.

The photographer's command of light and shadow was exceptionally precise, delineating the textural interplay between the dark blue and gray fabrics. The golden jacquard patterns on the Qipao and the light blue collar trim popped with exquisite dimension under the cool illumination. Our teamwork was seamless: with almost every pose adjustment, the photographer promptly recalibrated angles and lighting to keep compositions rich and center-weighted.

From the final selects, the vintage briefcase added immense narrative depth, evoking myriad storyline moments for the President. Shooting modern garments with traditional Chinese touches in a clean white studio eliminates background noise, allowing character styling and micro-expressions to shine unobstructed. It was a wonderful shooting experience that fulfilled a cherished personal wish for Kisaki.
