The experience at the Changsha Moka Anime Exhibition during the National Day holiday was truly special, and I chose to present a Headcanon / Original setting version of Luo Tianyi. To fit the theme of this original setting, I started preparing the costume and wig half a month in advance. The wig was selected in silver-gray with layered trimming, and to complement the traditional Chinese elements of this original setting, a small light-blue hair accessory was specially added on top. In terms of makeup, to emphasize the character's lively aura, I opted for bright green contact lenses, with extensive red and pink blending on the lower eyelids; this makeup technique photographs exceptionally well at convention venues and makes the eyes look much more expressive. Generous blush was applied to the cheeks to enhance the cute feel. For the base makeup, a high-coverage foundation was used alongside powder baking to ensure it stayed intact without melting in the crowded venue.
The costume features a white base with pink trim, integrating mandarin collars and traditional frog buttons. The pink bows on both shoulders and the teardrop cutout on the chest serve as the highlights of this outfit. The fabric incorporates subtle jacquard patterns and lace, giving off a gentle sheen under sunlight. Because it is an original setting, many details of the garment required personal contemplation and experimentation. For example, the purple plush ear prop was actually a spontaneous inspiration, but it surprisingly worked out nicely, introducing a fantasy touch. Since convention lighting can be quite complex, I usually carry a small fill light to enhance the skin texture in photos.
In the morning, I strolled through the halls and encountered numerous fellow enthusiasts, everyone taking photos with cosplayers at conventions and exchanging memories. The venue was vast, and walking all day takes a toll on the feet, so during noon break, I quickly found a quiet spot to grab a bite and recharge. In the afternoon, I met up with a photographer in a corner to take several convention photos; though the background was slightly busy, a wide aperture blurred it out smoothly. This original setting experiment gave me a deeper understanding of the character and allowed me to make many new friends. I also met several other cosplayers portraying Luo Tianyi, exchanging hair and makeup techniques. Overall, the venue's lighting and set arrangements were fairly good, and finding the right angle made taking satisfying photos achievable. Every convention is a dual test of physical stamina and energy, but seeing the meticulously prepared styling through the lens makes every bit of effort worth it. I hope to meet everyone again at the next convention.
