This Ganyu Cosplay photo set from Guangzhou Firefly ACG Expo is finally out! As the Liyue secretary in Genshin Impact, I chose a modified Chinese-style cheongsam look to present this time. The short white cloud-patterned top paired with black shorts and a long trailing back skirt feels both ethereal and crisp. The light blue long hair was custom-made, with the red-and-black Qilin horn hair accessories and ahoge on top acting as the true soul of the look; adjusting the styling and hair strands took quite a bit of effort to ensure a flowy, dynamic movement during shooting. For makeup, red eyeshadow and blush accents were used to give my eyes extra spirit, creating a lovely contrast with the Cryo character setting.
The round fan in my hand during the shoot served as a fantastic prop; its blue-and-white gradient ink-wash pattern matched my overall color palette perfectly. When posing, using it to half-cover my face, rest on my shoulder, or wave gently kept hand movements from looking stiff, adding a touch of poised composure. The black tights on my legs had wonderful texture, with light-colored accent stripes on the thighs adding a hint of modern design. Paired with glossy black high heels under the photographer's low-angle upward shots, it visually elongated my leg proportions, presenting a slender silhouette and elegant grace.
This location was at the 1st floor lobby of the Guangzhou Firefly ACG Expo, with the background glass doors and "Block B" signage quite prominent. Although the modern architectural setting was somewhat rigid, it revealed a genuine 2D offline gathering atmosphere. To capture the best angle, the photographer spent the entire time crouching or kneeling on the ground for low-angle shots, which was extremely hard work. Because the convention hall had heavy foot traffic, we waited at the same spot to snap multiple rounds just to catch ideal frames free of passersby.
Cosplaying Ganyu was actually quite challenging. Walking around the convention with a light blue long wig meant it easily tangled or shifted out of place; to maintain that ethereal look, I had to constantly comb through it with my fingers. Furthermore, the golden accessories at the collar and waist of this modified cheongsam needed to stay flat and fitted without wrinkling or tilting, requiring repeated adjustments with every location change. Although walking on marble convention floors in glossy high heels grew tiring over time, seeing the beautiful final photos made every bit of effort worth it.
Although this was my first time trying this specific outfit for Genshin Impact's Ganyu, the final photo texture exceeded my expectations. Bringing out a 2D character's unique charm in the real world while blending with the local Guangzhou convention scene is precisely the most addicting thrill of cosplay. The overall atmosphere was captured just right; this cheongsam styling truly tests physique and temperament, but thankfully the resulting output is deeply satisfying.
