For these event photos of Madame Lucy taken at Shanghai 1999 Only, from costume preparation to shooting on site, the entire process revolved around how to embody that rational soul who firmly believes in scientific calculation and rejects emotional friction. To recreate the conviction of Laplace, I cast aside superfluous emotional expressions in both makeup styling and movement, facing the lens with a restrained, serene gaze in this Lucy cosplay from Reverse: 1999.
In terms of wardrobe, the silver-gray metallic material of this bodysuit presented the greatest challenge across the entire set. Under intense highlights and specular reflections, the fabric magnifies even the slightest wrinkle or unevenness, so substantial effort went into putting it on and body shaping beforehand. The outer black overcoat with its plush fur collar formed a stark textural contrast against the silver combat suit, intertwining heavy, soft fluff with cold, sharp metallic luster. Accented by the antenna unit with a slender microphone at the ear, delicate transparent strap detailing across the forehead, and an orange lanyard at the neck, the imposing persona of a cold technological executor was solidly established in this Cyberpunk style cosplay.
The shooting location was set in a dark room stacked with retro CRT monitors; cascading green code across the screens and green glowing neon glyphs on the left cultivated an exceptional sci-fi atmosphere. This ambient lighting was wonderfully flattering to the silver attire; the warm overhead light on my face intertwined with the cool green glow from the background, creating wonderfully rich environmental reflections across my silhouette. To complement this interplay of light and shadow, I choreographed expansive, open poses—such as lifting an arm with fingers splayed, as though manipulating some invisible technological force or executing calculations in harmony with the piston-driven will of a steam engine.
Personally, I deeply revere Lucy's character core: never anonymously complaining in an opinion box about occupied power sockets, and standing resolutely by her convictions no matter how the "Storm" sweeps through the era. This decisive resolve greatly fueled my stage presence throughout the shoot—eliminating any need for exaggerated expressions, demanding only total, unwavering focus. Heartfelt thanks to the event organizers for the photographer pass and to the photographer for capturing nuanced lighting details on site, flawlessly recording both the fabric textures and the cyberpunk atmosphere.
