[Lucy cosplay] Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Yangpu Power Plant Night Shoot

Choosing the ruins of the Yangpu Power Plant for this official Lucy cosplay shoot was primarily inspired by its massive orange industrial machinery and rugged metal frameworks, which fit the world of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners remarkably well. Night photography demands exacting control over lighting, so we brought plenty of neon tubes and fill-light equipment to faithfully recreate that distinctive 'high tech, low life' Cyberpunk mood.

In terms of wardrobe, to accurately replicate Lucy's design, the high-neck black patent-leather bodysuit and the white semi-sheer glossy cropped jacket were custom-tailored. Patent leather tends to flare under direct strobes, requiring us to constantly adjust the angle of the light sources and camera positioning to preserve the rich textile sheen while preventing crushed blacks or blown-out highlights. The lower half features grey-blue leggings with cutout slashes across the thighs, paired with black knee-high boots trimmed in red, sharply elongating the leg lines and proportions. The yellow monowire cable prop in my hands took quite a while to source; against the dark palette of the scene, it acted as a striking color accent that pulled the eye directly toward the focal point. The wig is a silvery-white bob with straight-cut bangs, tipped with soft pink gradient highlights to capture the character's lively, agile spirit.

For movement choreography, I drew inspiration from classic Cyberpunk dynamic poses: sitting along the metal steps with legs angled, leaning against railings to accentuate the waistline, or flexing into a poised, single-leg stance to showcase the garment's intricate architecture. To match her agile netrunner agility, I tested various torso twists and coiled, pre-jump stances before the lens, actively avoiding stiff or static poses. For a close-up shot holding the yellow wire while glancing back, we ran through numerous takes just to capture that perfect, fleeting alignment of hair motion and piercing eye contact.

Although shooting into the late hours left me physically tired from the dropping temperatures and continuous dynamic poses, seeing the cold, psychedelic hues emerge on the camera screen made every bit of effort worthwhile. Blending heavy machinery with a futuristic Cyberpunk edge across an authentic location offered far richer ambient lighting layers than an indoor studio ever could, and the tangible atmosphere helped immensely in channeling the character's emotional depth.
