[Wcos] Arknights: Fantasy in the Mirage Photoshoot Record

This photoshoot at IDO Anime Convention featured W's Fantasy in the Mirage outfit from Arknights. The entire costume is predominantly black patent leather with red trim; the material is very rigid, completely non-breathable, and the tight fit severely restricted movement. In particular, the over-the-knee boots and straps on the legs took immense effort to put on and take off, and the boots were quite heavy. The tight constriction after wearing it gave me a visceral sense of the outfit's intense restraint. Paired with white hair and red horns, styling the wig was also quite tricky—spending a lot of time securing the horns on top to make them sit naturally. During the shoot, the photographer had me try side-sitting on a white sofa as well as kneeling poses. While side-sitting looked elegant, my lower back was constantly tensed to sustain body lines. I really love the composition of the second kneeling shot: staring straight into the lens, it showcased the cool allure and aggressiveness unique to Fantasy in the Mirage—especially under the leather sheen, where the exposed nude Stockings met the boots, perfectly carving out sensual curves. However, resting my knees on the cushion in that pose was genuinely painful; after finishing a set, my knees were bruised. The third reclining shot looked great, but the surface wasn't soft enough, requiring arm support throughout. The prop gun felt weighty in hand; while shooting the second frame, placing the prop near my lips with a cold glare captured a good glimpse of W's cool, dangerous aura. On-site lighting was also vital: patent leather reflects light easily, so the photographer adjusted light angles multiple times to accentuate costume textures. The venue at IDO Anime Convention was bustling with foot traffic; although we found a relatively quiet corner, many fellow fans still passed by, looking over, with warmhearted friends helping hold bags and adjust reflectors. The shoot was exhausting, but seeing the final images made all the effort worthwhile. This costume is not merely a visual presentation, but a deep dive into the character's temperament. Wearing it felt like stepping directly into her mindset. Convention photos differ from studio shoots—ambient lighting is chaotic, and mastering natural and artificial lighting is a true test for photographers. Exploring various angles, blending the sharp lines of Fantasy in the Mirage with feminine curves, I aimed to present a distinct visual impact. Organizing the photos, my favorite remains that half-kneeling perspective: expression and lighting met every expectation, delivering a thoroughly fulfilling convention cosplay experience.
