I finally got part of my convention photos from CPG08 ready! First and foremost, a massive thank you to Director David 📷 for his lens work—he captured such incredible tension in every frame. This time, I cosplayed Suisui from Wuthering Waves. To be completely honest, the weather that day was sheer torture. The entire photography zone was outdoors under the blazing sun, and it genuinely felt like I was melting in the extreme heat. To keep my makeup and wig intact, I was constantly doing frantic touch-ups, and sweat never stopped beading on my forehead. The outfit features intense, rich layers; while the black, white, and gold color-blocked fabric looks stunning, outdoors it honestly acted like a walking insulator. Still, for the sake of accuracy, all that suffering was entirely worth it.
Moving on to character realization: Suisui's wig styling is quite intricate. The long blonde hair needs plenty of volume while integrating those delicate hair accessories and red tassels, meaning securing the wig took considerable effort every single time. The costume design embodies a fantasy Chinese aesthetic; the water sleeves and sweeping ribbons make movements look exceptionally ethereal, yet they added significant challenge to shooting. For instance, the single-leg balancing stance in the first photo required serious core strength to maintain balance while simultaneously positioning the translucent folding fan so the breeze would catch the ribbons. Often, freezing a single frame meant readjusting angles repeatedly to prevent gusts from messing up the hemline or obscuring facial expressions. To capture dynamic, leaping poses, I was hopping and finding my center of gravity on scorching outdoor pavement in high heels—my legs almost cramped up.
Due to venue constraints, there was heavy pedestrian traffic in the background. Thankfully, the photographer used a wide aperture and masterful light control to smoothly blur out the clutter, keeping the subject squarely in focus. For posing, I tailored my movements around the folding fan, incorporating dance-inspired posture to project a visual impact blending power with grace. Maintaining expression control before the camera in such stifling heat was truly a test of endurance. The rich texture and polish of these final shots definitely earn the photographer major kudos. In such extreme conditions, every click of the shutter is a testament to our passion. I hope this sun-drenched, high-heat photo set lets everyone feel the dedication behind every frame.
