[Remilia Scarlet Cosplay] Red and White Demon of the Dark Night: Touhou Project Convention Photos

This time I cosplayed Remilia Scarlet, putting a lot of care into the entire look from wig to dress hemline. Short, curly light blue hair paired with red contact lenses—the makeup emphasized eye contours and soft blush to capture that slightly youthful yet majestic vampire demeanor for this Remilia cosplay.

As for the outfit, the core piece is a layered dress of white lace and red floral frills. The off-shoulder design with a black waist corset raised the waistline, making the overall proportions sleeker. The red floral headpiece and demon wings on my back were hand-adjusted; the wings' skeleton used lightweight material covered in a semi-transparent red film, reflecting a subtle gloss under light while staying light enough for my shoulders during a long shoot.

The red polearm weapon in hand served as one of the visual focal points of the entire look. Made of hard foam with a glossy spray finish, it reflected light clearly under convention lamps, creating a strong color contrast with the white skirt. For these Convention photos, we intentionally chose a mirror floor section in the hall, using ground reflections to capture the trailing tulle of the skirt and extending lines of the pose, adding rich spatial layering under the Demon theme.

For standing poses, the photographer had me shift my weight slightly to the left leg while extending the right leg forward, better displaying the black cross-strap pattern on the white stockings. The glossy red bow shoes were also striking under reflections. For the sitting shot on a folding ladder, I held a real apple in one hand while leaning on the weapon with the other. This pose let the dress hem spread naturally to reveal leg contours, while the red apple acted as a prop echoing the overall red-and-white palette, adding narrative charm to this Touhou Project shoot.

The convention hall was quite crowded, but the photographer seized brief gaps to shoot quickly, keeping spectators out of frame. Post-processing focused on simple color adjustments to preserve costume texture. Under indoor cold lighting, highlights were slightly raised to make the white lace pleats three-dimensional, while darkening the background to highlight the main subject. The main challenge of this Anime cosplay styling lay in dress fluffiness and weapon balance; standing for long periods was tiring, but seeing the final results made all that weight worthwhile.

The weapon was packed away right after shooting since passing security and moving through crowds with it was tricky. The apple was bought on-site and eaten after the shoot! I previously considered adding special FX like red light or bat fragments, but this time I wanted to preserve the original design—clean, sharp red-and-white color blocking was distinctive enough.

The entire session took about an hour, mainly spent locating good light positions and angles. Hall pillars created scattered lighting, so we adjusted positions several times before settling near the entrance where overhead lighting was even. Combined with high ground reflectivity, the output looked bright and translucent. Patterns on the white stockings stayed crisp in close-ups. The 6cm heels pressed on my feet after a while, but I toughed it out for overall proportions.

Looking back at these photos covering standing, sitting, and low angles, they encompass every aspect of the styling. Weapon grip angles and line-of-sight were fine-tuned to avoid looking stiff—a slightly nonchalant look felt much closer to Remilia's temperament. The final photos didn't rely on heavy filters; slightly boosting color saturation made the red and blue contrast pop beautifully.
