These convention photos of Saber Alter shot at the Dreamland Anime Convention can be said to be my best condition recently. After changing into the clothes, I felt my entire aura become different. The deep navy blue backless long dress has an excellent texture, especially the white vine embroidery on the skirt hem and cuffs, which shows a unique luster under the natural light and the exhibition hall's ceiling lights. The silver-white wig and that touch of emerald green colored contacts, enhanced by the makeup, made it easier for me to capture the character's awe-inspiring and inviolable charm in front of the camera.
However, the actual shooting process was not that solemn. Just as the post says, what the king must conquer first is indeed the sense of hunger. Getting a meal inside the convention hall required waiting in a long line, and posing with the greatsword prop was particularly physically exhausting. By the second half of the shoot, I was truly starving, my stomach cleaving to my back, and everything looked like food. I even looked at the photographer, Teacher Ermi, who was lying on the ground looking for angles, and a sudden thought popped into my head: it would be great if I could eat this camera-wielding teacher in one bite (of course, not literally).
To shoot this Salter look well, I adjusted many poses back and forth. Close-up shots required the gaze to be sufficiently focused, while full-body shots relied on the greatsword to sustain the balance of the overall center of gravity. This prop sword has quite a substantial weight, feeling highly realistic in hand. Paired with black patent leather high heels, it perfectly pulled my entire physical posture straight and tall.
The final results exceeded my expectations. In a crowded environment like an anime convention, Teacher Ermi utilized a large aperture and shallow depth of field to turn the background passersby and reflectors into beautiful bokeh, completely locking the visual focus onto the character. When editing the photos, we didn't do overly exaggerated post-processing either, mainly preserving the cool, dark-toned texture of the raw image, which perfectly matches the solemn aura inherent to the character of Saber Alter from Fate/Grand Order.
Although I devoured a huge meal right after finishing the shoot this time, seeing this set of works still brings a great sense of fulfillment. I will look for opportunities to try some high-difficulty dynamic movements in the future, striving to interpret this character even more completely through Anime cosplay.
