Changing into this non-combat casual outfit prepared in Chaldea, I feel my whole body relax a lot. Having been familiar with the character Mash for a long time, I've always loved her trait of being quiet yet resilient, gentle yet firmly protecting those around her. This time, I wanted to try restoring her most natural state in a casual cosplay setting, away from the battlefield.
The focus of the makeup and styling is to highlight the spirit in her eyes and her overall softness. The light purple short hair needs to be styled to look smooth and natural, and paired with black-rimmed glasses, it shouldn't look overly sharp. The red and black patterns on the tie and the creases on the shirt have been carefully adjusted, striving to stay close to the character design while ensuring a natural texture and layers under the lights. The cooperation between the shooting environment and the lighting is quite key. This cool white-toned studio light is very suitable for showing the daily atmosphere under a high-tech background. Combined with the desktop monitors, various instruments, and green plants, I want to create a sense of peaceful and serene scientific research life unique to Chaldea.
Actually, when rushing to the front lines of Human Order Restoration with Senpai in Fate/Grand Order, Mash is always in a combat state. But I think her charm also lies exactly in these moments when the pace slows down. Sitting on a white swivel chair, or casually leaning against a table, even just simply playing with her hair, her entire demeanor is very stable. This sense of relaxation with a hint of laziness is, I believe, the character's other side in a peaceful world. Without the oppression of a crisis, without needing to deploy her shield, just purely enjoying a moment of tranquility, looking at the screen outside the window or fiddling with the items around her, makes this character feel real and tangible. The combination of black stockings and boots also allows the overall look to maintain a bit of agent-like sharpness amidst the leisure, balancing very comfortably.
I'm quite satisfied with the effect presented this time. On one hand, I tried my best to pay attention to the tailoring of the clothing and color coordination; on the other hand, I also hoped to express her slightly green, always cautious yet reliable image. Especially through candid shots from different angles, whether it's a cool-toned partial close-up or a full-body composition including the environment, some comfortable daily moments were captured. As an Anime-style photography attempt for a fan-made project, I hope everyone who likes this work can feel the little thought put into it. After all, carefully preparing props, handling details, and then restoring her is a happy thing in itself. This stable atmosphere is indeed very healing, and it made me re-experience the fun and beauty of the creative process. As a photography enthusiast, being able to give a character one's own understanding in the studio is also a very fulfilling thing.
