This time, my partner and I cosplayed Ram and Rem, and we repeatedly adjusted everything from the wigs to the costume details many times. For Ram's pink short hair and Rem's blue short hair, we did several rounds of corrections against the official design sheets regarding the smoothness of the hair strands and the placement of the flower ornaments on top of their heads. The lace trim and black-and-white contrasting colors of the maid outfits have a strong sense of layering. Especially for the pleats of the skirt hem and the straps of the apron, to recreate that fluffy yet structured texture, hard mesh tulle was used for the inner lining. The shoot took place under harsh outdoor sunlight. To prevent the highlights from washing out the details of the costumes, we specifically looked for a shaded area with scattered light while using reflectors to fill in soft light on our faces. These outfits have many tiny ribbons and straps at the cuffs and necklines, making putting them on and taking them off very time-consuming. However, to present the most complete impression of the characters, none of these details could be omitted. Rem's bangs are on the longer side and require daily styling to maintain their curve, and Ram's hair ornament easily became crooked due to the strong wind, so we were constantly tidying each other up during breaks in the shoot. For the duo interaction poses, we referenced scenes of the sisters interacting in the anime, such as holding hands and leaning against each other, trying our best to let the expressions and movements bring out that intimate yet slightly tsundere atmosphere from the original work. As for the makeup, the eye makeup specially emphasized the pupil color and aegyo sal. Paired with the characters' iconic red and blue colored contact lenses, the overall look had a soft matte texture to avoid making it look distorted from over-editing. In post-processing, I retained the skin texture and the realistic light and shadow of the fabric without excessive airbrushing. After all, accuracy in cosplay lies not only in looking like the character, but also in the realistic presentation of the costume materials and lighting. Shooting duo characters always requires an incredible amount of chemistry between two people, syncing up everything from positioning to expressions. This collaboration felt exceptionally smooth. Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- has already reached its fourth season. Although Rem has been asleep for a long time in the storyline, being able to bring them together in reality through cosplay serves as a sort of emotional tribute to the original work.
