Summer is made for Summer water play! This Pretty Goat cosplay (Pretty Goat cosplay) Pool photoshoot was all about catching the very tail end of summer. While inspired by Pretty Goat, I opted out of heavy plush props or bulky signature horns this time, crafting instead a refreshing, lightweight interpretation tailored for a poolside summer ambiance.
The monochrome Swimsuit served as the focal core of the styling. I chose this design because its white scalloped lace trims and star bow motifs create a striking graphic contrast against the deep black fabric—infusing sweet charm without coming across as overly childish. Paired with thin-framed circular spectacles and luminous blue contacts, it instantly dialed the Anime girl aura up to the maximum. Shooting with glasses outdoors in the summer heat posed its own challenges; the slightest bit of perspiration caused the bridge to slide, requiring regular adjustments between takes. Furthermore, keeping colored contacts in under the sun can lead to dryness, so keeping eye drops handy for quick resets between poses was essential.
The set was staged around timber poolside lounge chairs. The ambient light between 4:00 PM and 5:00 PM was ideal—soft and flattering against the skin without harsh glares. Pool reflections can be tricky, as direct, hard illumination easily casts unflattering caustic hotspots across the face. Working closely with the photographer, we positioned the setup along the edge of leafy foliage shadows. In the background, palm leaves and tropical greenery established a breezy vacation aesthetic, with wide-aperture bokeh ensuring the focus stayed squarely on the subject.
Regarding posing, perching cross-legged actually tests your core stability. To keep the spine upright without slouching, I consciously engaged my core, dropped my shoulders, and elongated my neckline. In the first shot, brushing hair behind one ear with one hand while resting the other palm on the timber planks showcased upper body curves while cultivating an effortless, candid ease. The second shot brought in a playful peace sign with crossed legs, elevating youthful energy; the trick when crossing legs is avoiding pressing the thighs flat, instead shifting ankles slightly forward to preserve lean, smooth lines on camera.
Sun protection is something you can never overlook during a Pool photoshoot. Despite wearing a Swimsuit, outdoor UV levels remain high; even in late afternoon light, prolonged exposure can quickly lead to sunburns. In addition to high-SPF waterproof sunscreen, I threw on an airy cover-up during breaks. As for the pool water, even when clear, minimizing prolonged immersion in public facilities and rinsing off with fresh water immediately after water takes kept things fresh.
This collection didn't aim for elaborate canon sets or complex narratives, focusing instead on expressing a breezy, carefree state of being. Summer calls for swimming, splashing, and archiving these vibrant, sun-drenched moments. Whatever character you portray, infusing personal interpretation and attuning to the present atmosphere is the surest way to capture natural, captivating portraits.
