After finishing this set of photos for Cifera Cosplay, all my strength felt drained, and sleepiness instantly washed over me. The post title saying "a bit groggy from sleep" was no joke—to make time for this studio slot last night, I didn't shut my eyes until 3 AM, and getting woken up by the alarm this morning left me completely dazed. Only one thought occupied my mind: I want to sleep in. But looking at the fully put-together gear, I felt I couldn't let my prior preparations go to waste, so I pushed through and pressed the shutter button.
This costume has so many details. Just adjusting the position of the golden patterns on the brim and the animal-eared girl hat styling took a long time; to make it look natural without collapsing, I padded the inside with multiple layers of shaping mesh. The blue-and-gold gem eye ornament at the collar was custom-made, carrying noticeable weight in hand, but hanging at the chest nicely balances the drape of the collar, keeping the deep V-neck from looking too empty. The geometric patterns on the hem and armor combine thermal transfer printing and hand-stitching, building up rich layers. However, wearing it for a while weighs heavily on the shoulders, especially when holding props or posing, making me feel my body protest.
During shooting, I actually made a minor mistake—I really couldn't resist the drowsiness and closed my eyes for a second. But the photographer caught that moment, which felt surprisingly fitting for the character's lazy yet slightly mysterious aura. I originally thought a closed-or-half-open eye expression would look listless, but looking at the preview, it actually gave an "I have fallen asleep forever" vibe. Combined with my slightly curled fingers by the side of my eyes, it unexpectedly added a layer of storytelling.
As for makeup, I intentionally elongated the eyeliner this time, pairing it with light gray-blue contact lenses to give my gaze a cooler demeanor. Base makeup was applied thinly without intentionally using highlighters to brighten the face, as the original skin texture leans soft and excessive shine would look unnatural. Lip color was chosen as a matte nude orange, forming a warm-and-cool contrast with the Silver hair cosplay wig without being overwhelming. The wig had a subtle permed curve and wasn't combed too flat, preserving that slightly messy, lazy silver hair feeling from the original design, with bangs falling right above the brow bone without obscuring the eyes.
Even though my eyelids were fighting to stay open from fatigue, since I'm doing cosplay, I strove for faithful detail restoration. For example, the black half-finger design of the gloves and the blue spliced blocks on the armor were matched against color swatches multiple times. The only slight regret was not bringing her iconic weapon prop because it was simply too heavy—if I tried holding it, I probably would have fallen asleep on the spot. But replacing it with single-handed gesturing poses actually appeared more casual and less combat-heavy, like a bystander wandering on the edge of dreams in this Casual cosplay setup.
Lying back in bed now and reflecting on that groggy feeling during shooting feels truly wondrous. The character herself might carry a sense of weariness and detachment, so my genuine sleepiness was almost an accidental "immersive experience." Though next time I shoot a character requiring sharp focus, I will definitely get enough sleep beforehand, otherwise my gaze will look too unfocused. Having packed away all this gear, I've already decided to sleep until I wake up naturally tomorrow—after all, maintaining Cifera's beauty requires plenty of sleep! I hope this groggy and lazy atmosphere conveys that unique, relaxed pace in the universe of Honkai: Star Rail.
