[Jane Doe cosplay] Zenless Zone Zero Hunter: Combat Style Cosplay Interpretation

Putting on this Jane Doe gear and standing on the convention floor, I immediately felt like I had entered combat mode. This time, I cosplayed a highly recognizable character from Zenless Zone Zero; the layering and number of accessories were actually far more complex than imagined. The cropped mint green jacket is paired with a black midriff-baring crop top, with the red tie featuring white totem patterns across the chest serving as the visual focal point of the upper body, while the white faux-fur collar adds a touch of softness to the tough combat style. For the lower half, black leather shorts were chosen alongside a pair of semi-sheer Striped stockings outfit featuring thigh cutouts. Combined with high-heeled tall boots, the overall silhouette looks exceptionally crisp and sharp. These boots are also packed with details: the black, white, and gray color-blocking combined with red-and-black toe accents echoes the metallic armor structure on the gloves, giving the entire look a strong techwear feel.

When I first received this outfit, the biggest challenge besides the clothing itself was matching the props and posture. The thick, long light-green tail at the back actually has some weight to it; not only did I need to make sure it didn't look stiff in dynamic poses, but I also had to ensure it fit naturally with my overall body proportions. The black fingerless gloves worn on both hands are designed with great texture—especially the claw area—which, paired with the dual daggers, allowed me to channel the character's fighting habits much more naturally when posing. The dagger hilts are painted in dark and red tones with silver-gray blades, faithfully restoring the original setting in terms of texture. Furthermore, I specifically wore green colored contact lenses, paired with black short hair highlighted with striking red streaks on both sides. The wig styling was kept close to the original setting's "messy yet structured" look, and the gray-and-white animal ears were firmly attached, staying perfectly in place throughout the shoot.

This shoot mainly revolved around three different combat postures, and photographer @Huaiyi was exceptionally professional in handling the venue's lighting conditions. In the first shot with a single-knee kneeling forward thrust composition, I kept my center of gravity very low and extended my right hand forward holding the dagger—a pose perfect for expressing explosive combat power and momentum. The second shot featured a lunge half-kneeling posture with both hands wielding weapons in a defensive stance ready to counterattack; the span between my front and back legs wonderfully showcased the details of the leg equipment, especially the integrity of the stocking cutouts. The third shot took a standing perspective, which was particularly demanding on balance: keeping body tension and a slight torso twist in high heels and tactical gear requires solid core control, but the final outcome beautifully displayed the silhouette and lines of the entire outfit, particularly the elongated leg lines. Personally, I think this one is most suitable as the cover photo.

The lighting at the convention was indeed somewhat cluttered, but with background booth lights and crowds blurred out, the subject's silhouette was highlighted with even greater clarity. This darker, moody venue environment happened to match the character's core tone perfectly. We put significant effort into the accuracy of this gear; although the weight of leather and metal accessories slightly restricted movement, walking around in it offered an incredible sense of immersion, as if stepping into a battlefield the very next second. Communication with the photographer was seamless throughout, quickly locking in the right gaze and direction during adjustments. Cosplaying weapon-wielding characters usually runs the risk of wardrobe shifts or awkward poses when moving dynamically, but fortunately, everything was fastened securely with zero hiccups throughout the shoot. This Jane Doe cosplay look is a wonderful endeavor for anyone who loves Combat style cosplay and hardcore aesthetics.
