A lot of thought went into preparing this Angel Rem outfit beforehand, especially combining the floating halo and wing elements. The wig selected is a light blue bob cut with great sheen, trimmed with layers for the bangs and sideburns. Feather decorations resembling animal ear traits were added to both sides, and paired with the white cross hairpin on the face, it beautifully preserves Rem's iconic styling base. The floating halo above the head uses an adjustable thin rod for support, ensuring it maintains a stable shape even under the complex lighting of a convention, without noticeable shaking while walking around.
The main body of the dress uses a subtly shimmering pure white fabric, with a relatively loose cut, covered by a layer of semi-translucent lace overlay. A large matching bowknot is tied at the neckline, and the sleeves adopt a segmented off-the-shoulder design with cutouts in the middle of the upper arms, connecting to half-finger gloves with lace cuffs. The edges of the skirt hem and cuffs are sewn with multiple layers of fine ruffles, which naturally create an elegant, flowing movement when walking or posing. The white wings on the back are lightweight and breathable, without placing too much weight on the shoulders. Along with the feather accessories on both sides of the head, the overall styling looks quite pure and translucent despite having many visual elements, thanks to the unified color scheme.
The shooting location was chosen in a spacious corridor area of the exhibition hall. The floor at the time was polished to a highly smooth stone finish, clearly reflecting the rows of circular spotlights overhead, providing an excellent reflective foundation for high-key photography style. The photographer utilized a large-aperture lens for a shallow depth of field, blurring the cluttered booths and crowds in the background into bokeh light spots, which not only highlighted the subject but also made the entire frame's atmosphere softer and more dreamlike. While posing, I intentionally matched the style of the dress, such as folding my hands in front of my collarbones, leaning forward slightly, or turning sideways for a backward glance, which gave the white tulle and wings a sense of extension. Moving around inside the venue in this outfit received great feedback; after all, a white look combined with the classic blue short hair and cross hairpins has exceptionally high recognition.
Regarding the makeup and details, to fit the pure setting of an angel, the base makeup was kept very lightweight. The eye area was deepened for three-dimensionality, paired with light-colored contact lenses featuring a touch of pink, making the gaze look much softer. The lip color selected was a pale watery red, echoing the overall clean and white tones without being too abrupt. The white short socks worn were also a highlight, with a ring of lace trim added around the cuffs; though pure white, it added a youthful, girlish touch to the overall look. Paired with white flat shoes, it guaranteed the completeness of the outfit while helping me maintain stamina during long hours of taking photos at the exhibition venue. When arranging the overall look, special attention was also paid to the symmetry of the collar bowknot and the shoulder lace, as any imbalance would be highly conspicuous under this high-contrast, softbox shooting environment.
Actually, every time I do a character with many complex accessories, the difficulty often lies not in the luxury of the costume itself, but in how to balance the physical positions of the various feathers and the halo so they stay secure during natural movements. This outfit features certain innovations compared to the original version, such as adding angel wings and a halo, which instead adds a layer of holy temperament to Rem's original character traits. In an exhibition hall filled with repetitive architectural structures, this clean white look combined with blue short hair easily catches eyes in a crowd. During the shoot, I also tried some different standing poses, like slightly tiptoeing or turning my body, capturing the moment the skirt lifted, which gave the final photos a dynamic feel. Looking back at these few convention photos, the lighting, expression, and costume condition are all quite on point, making it a very satisfying Re:Zero cosplay output experience.
