[Arknights] An Unanswered Call: Ch'en and Hoshiguma on Late-Night City Streets

The theme of 'an unanswered call' carried a strong narrative feel from the start, with late-night neon signs and cool blue lighting setting the mood perfectly in this Urban nightscape. This shoot took place on location, where the reflections from background billboards and glass booths worked wonders. I portrayed Ch'en from Arknights (Ch'en cosplay), while my partner cosplayed Hoshiguma (Hoshiguma cosplay) in this Duo cosplay session. The outfit is packed with details—black leather jacket, trousers, styled wig, and horns—putting me straight into a cool and capable mindset the moment I put it on. The long hair, catching the wind, brought dynamic motion to the frames. During the shoot, we mainly utilized the phone booth and metal railings, holding a black prop phone to my ear while gazing ahead to simulate waiting for a call that won't connect. I kept my posture as upright as possible to highlight the character's composed yet dangerous aura. One shot involved sitting on the roadside curb; this posture severely tested stamina since the boot soles were stiff, requiring me to balance on tiptoes, and it took a while to nail the right angle. The cool light and the moist texture on the glass effortlessly created a cinematic, hazy feel. With pedestrians constantly passing by, finding angles while dodging crowds was great practice for our photography skills. My partner's look featured shorts paired with tall boots, elongating the leg lines beautifully, topped off with horns for an impeccably finished look. With one standing and one sitting, the high-low composition possessed incredible visual tension. The hardest challenge in this Urban nightscape shoot was the stark contrast between the cool foreground lights and warm background lights, demanding strict white balance control. To adapt to the lighting, I specifically chose matte foundation to prevent glare and oily sheen under streetlights, while deepening the eye contour shadows to keep facial features sculpted under harsh lighting. When processing high-contrast night shots, post-production focused on recovering shadow details while maintaining a cool, detached tone. The hand holding the phone prop had to hover stably without looking stiff, infused with subtle emotion. Only through constant communication with the photographer regarding poses and eye lines were these satisfying shots gradually locked in. The entire shoot felt like stepping into the character's inner world, experiencing that solitude of waiting alone deep in the night. The neon signs in the background contrasted sharply with the characters' frosty expressions, evoking the suspense of a movie storyboard. Although physically demanding, the resulting set clearly conveyed the intended emotions and narrative—a truly fantastic shoot. The wind tousling our hair actually enhanced the shot's dynamism, and I'm deeply grateful for my partner's seamless coordination. With the aesthetic of a suspense movie poster, this is one of my most satisfying, highly polished photoshoots recently. Wearing this outfit was genuinely hardcore—the leather was stiff, resisting sitting or arm-raising, so every pose had to be calculated in advance to prevent awkward creasing. The late-night temperature was freezing, but encouraging each other and fully immersing ourselves in character made us forget the cold. Readjusting wigs and tweaking props midway to match the original lore against the urban neon streetscape, I strived for that hardcore, cool-headed realism.
