【Surtr cosplay】Revealing a Different Tenderness in a Red Atmosphere - Image 1

Many people have asked me why Surtr looks so gentle in this set. In fact, when planning this Arknights cosplay, the baseline tone I set for myself was quite different from before. The character's original design always carries an imposing, dangerous aura—like a sword poised to be unsheathed at any moment. But this time, I wanted to interpret her from an alternative perspective.

Let's start with the overall styling: as a Red hair cosplay, the red wig makes fair skin stand out beautifully. To match the character's feel, I meticulously trimmed the curve of the bangs. The black horns on the head and the choker around the neck were carefully matched in color and texture. The most substantial piece was the Greatsword prop in my hands; its metallic finish is highly reflective, and holding it while posing required considerable strength to maintain balance, yet this sword served as the visual anchor for the entire frame. The outfit was selected in classic glossy black, whose folds under the reflection of red lighting created great depth and shadow layers.

The studio setup was key—dark red background lighting combined with low yellow light sources made it feel as though I were standing in a scorching domain. In many people's impressions, Surtr is cold and aloof, but after discussing it extensively with the photographer, we decided to soften the gaze. Deep down, I believe the character has her own moments of quiet stillness where she might reveal a softer side. Gripping the hilt with slightly curved fingers was also adjusted repeatedly—not to look overly aggressive, but to carry a composed steadiness.

While some photos required post-processing to enhance the Atmosphere, I hope everyone can appreciate the hair and makeup details, such as the subtle gradient eye makeup and that delicate eye contact. Every cosplay is an exploration into understanding a character. Blending a gentle expression with the formidable traits many have previously portrayed created an engaging, contrasting aesthetic. The tension of the crimson backdrop and the composure before the camera together brought my personal interpretation of Surtr to life. I hope you all enjoy this emotionally resonant set.
