Stepping into this indoor pool that simulates a beach, the summer heat is instantly diluted by the blue and white tiles and water ripples before me. This time, I'm presenting a refreshing Summer swimsuit look for everyone. The combination of short pink hair and elf ears collides into a unique, dreamy vibe in the pool scene. To ensure the headpiece and ears remain stable in a high-humidity environment, I specially used extra securing accessories combined with a waterproof and sweatproof makeup-setting solution, ensuring the makeup stays clean and translucent when water splashes up.
Stylistically, a black and white layered swimsuit was chosen, paired with a sheer tulle shawl, which both retains a playful design sense and adds layering. The matching pearl necklace and pink-and-blue colored bead strings serve as excellent accents in this blue-and-white dominated scene. In terms of props, a water gun, plastic watermelon, and inflatable swim ring are naturally indispensable, making the playful atmosphere of the entire pool even more vivid during this water play season. Stepping into the shallow water, feeling the coolness as the current washes over my ankles, or standing on one leg by the beach lounge chair, I can imagine myself at a real beach resort.
During the shooting process, water surface reflection was a key technical challenge to overcome. In order to capture that crystal-clear texture when my feet splash the water, the photographer adjusted the fill light angles multiple times, while also utilizing underwater props and colorful ocean balls to enrich the composition layers of the lower half. The overall planning idea was to express a lightweight, relaxed summer state; hence, there was no overly complex movement design, relying more on naturally flowing joy to interpret this set of photos for our Anime cosplay project.
Preparing a summer-themed Anime cosplay like this, every single detail concerns the texture of the final photos. From picking a light pink wig close to the character setting, to re-grooming that pair of long, pointed elf ears, and then carefully adjusting various jewelry pieces and anti-slip bands to the most comfortable wearing positions, the effort spent was not a bit less than a formal studio shoot. However, when finally seeing the water splash at my feet and feeling the coolness spread from my toes, all the previous tedious preparations turned into a joy worth savoring. This is probably the unique charm of combining immersive role-playing with photography during this pool photoshoot.
