Asuka's Language of Flowers styling requires extreme attention to detail. When I decided to do this version, the first thing I did was organize the core visual elements of the original design. First are those highly recognizable Blue colored contact lenses; I selected a style with subtle patterns so they would maintain clarity and translucency even under strong light. Next was styling the wig: the reddish-brown tone is the base, while the key lies in the thickness of the bangs and the curvature of the Twintails. I used multiple hair pads to build volume at the back of the head and curled the tips inward by one layer to achieve the slightly disheveled yet exquisite texture shown in the photos.
In terms of makeup, to recreate the character's unique 2D feel, I deliberately elongated the outer eye corners and highlighted the inner corners, making the eyes appear larger before the camera. For the base makeup, I focused on smooth skin texture, patting the foundation thin and even to give my skin tone a translucent finish. A peach-toned lip color was chosen, which harmonized with the Red bow without overwhelming the overall look. Outfit-wise, the off-the-shoulder white top paired with a pearl necklace and Red bow is the very soul of this look. To keep the bow from looking stiff, I adjusted the ribbon streamers when tying it so they draped down in a natural V-shape.
The photoshoot took place in an indoor setting with a vintage vibe. The deep purple sofa beautifully set off the white outfit and red hair accessories. I chose a cooler key light, which maximized the fair skin texture and contoured the shoulder and neck lines. In the first photo, I angled my body to better showcase the collarbones and shoulders, looking straight into the lens to recreate the character's confident, tsundere aura with a touch of pride.
Before shooting, I carefully verified the tailoring of the outfit; the folds of the white tulle needed to be neatly arranged to convey a sense of elegance. The multi-layered pearl necklace of varied bead sizes formed an ideal visual focal point. The third photo experimented with a backlit side profile, where light catching the hair created a subtle halo—a wonderful surprise from natural lighting. The overall shoot went smoothly, and I repeatedly referenced the original illustrations to fine-tune my facial expressions and gaze. Although this styling has no complex props, relying on garment details and expressive gazes successfully conveyed the character's temperament. This shoot deepened my understanding of Asuka's personality and design, while providing valuable experience in reddish-brown wig color-balancing and vintage makeup coordination.
