[Muelsyse cosplay] Arknights: Serene Moments of the Director of Rhine Lab's Ecological Section

This set of Muelsyse photos was shot outside an Arknights-only event venue. With the backdrop of the Lone Trail storyline, I spent the shoot pondering how to capture the Director of Rhine Lab's Ecological Section spacing out amidst complex affairs. The outfit is a white laboratory techwear coat with yellow accent lines, giving it a sleek modern feel. To recreate the elf design, the Elf ears were custom-made, requiring careful symmetrical application with adhesive to look natural from the front. The blonde hair was curled with an iron so it wouldn't stick flat to the scalp when caught in the wind, which, paired with fine glitter at the eye corners, created great atmosphere.

In the close-up of photo 1, I leaned on the railing with my chin resting on the back of my hand, looking forward with relaxed eyes, capturing that soft, endearing languor. Photo 2 is a backlit full-body shot standing by a glass barrier holding the long staff, with the sun melting the entire frame into a golden sunset. The leg silhouette revealed beneath the long coat and bright yellow boots created flattering proportions, though the backlighting focused more on light-and-shadow ambiance. It was quite windy during the shoot, making the wig flutter constantly and the prop hard to hold, so we chose the best lighting window in the afternoon to capture city bokeh in the background using a prime lens.

In post-processing color grading, highlights were toned down, facial shadows were brightened, and warm halos were preserved to contrast cyber-tech vibes with the warmth of the sunset. Because this costume was relatively well-covered without deliberately showing skin, I focused more on expressing character personality through facial nuances and gazes, offering a distinct kind of charm. While photo 2's dramatic backlighting was impressive, upon closer inspection, the focused yet slightly melancholic gaze in photo 1 better captured the character's state in Lone Trail. To enhance the overall quality of the set, photo 1 was chosen as the main cover. The whole process was very fun and served as a relaxing break after an intense convention day. Portraying this character truly tests one's temperament, and the moment I put on the Elf ears, the immersion was instant.
