This styling of Theresa finally completed its shooting and post-processing during the Arknights Creator Support Program. The white-toned long dress paired with the pink-and-white gradient hair ends is my attempt to capture the character's soft and beautiful qualities. To make the costume and makeup look more accurate, we specifically chose a pure white background for the studio shoot. The pure white base can maximize the design details of the clothing itself without visual interference from a complex background.
The clothing design utilizes a large amount of ruffle elements, especially the wide flared sleeves and neckline, along with the high-slit skirt hem, providing a strong sense of line. When I was trying it on, I found that this white fabric with a strong drape heavily tests the tailoring; fortunately, the final upper body effect fits perfectly. The high slit on the lower body beautifully displays the leg lines, while the black thick-soled high heels and black gloves serve as heavy color embellishments, giving the overall look a vivid color contrast. The two iconic red-and-black horn ornaments on top of the head paired with bowknots are the visual focal point of the entire makeup look, which also required careful fixing. For the wig, the straight bangs were specially trimmed, and the gradient transition from pink to white at the hair ends is very natural. Combined with the cool-toned atmosphere created by the eye makeup, it makes the whole person look cooler and softer.
The shooting process went smoothly. The photographer selected a softbox combined with a high-key lighting technique. This type of lighting is very friendly, as it can uniformly illuminate the luster of the wig while making the skin texture delicate, avoiding over-reliance on post-processing skin smoothing. The matching white lilies and green leaf bouquets were also just right; holding them in hand or placing them by my side could bring out a bit of a sacred and serene feeling. Actually, during studio shoots, guiding the movements is very important. I experimented with three different composition angles, including a sitting pose with crossed legs to show elegance, a single hand raised lightly touching the hair accessory, and a turning action when standing to display the slit skirt hem. Every posture tried to maintain expansion and balance through this cosplay photography session.
During the process of creating this Theresa cosplay photoshoot, my understanding of the character focused more on a gentle sense of brokenness, so the expressions were not made too strong, leaning more toward calm gazes. Because a white studio shoot inherently lacks environmental information, the wrinkles on the clothes, the leather reflection of the gloves, and the expression at the corners of the eyes became the key to conveying emotions. This places high demands on controlling colors and exposure during post-processing, but fortunately, the final pictures preserved that clean, bright, and translucent atmosphere. As a creator, participating in such a fan art project and grounding my own inspiration and ideas through actual shooting is a highly fulfilling achievement in itself. I hope that through this set of simple yet detailed styling, everyone can experience the quiet and beautiful side of this character.
