Choosing a pure white cyclorama studio for this shoot was primarily aimed at amplifying the visual impact of the costume's bold color palette. With black and white as the primary base accented by contrasting pops of pink and cyan, the entire ensemble conveys the distinct, striking flair of an idol stage outfit. The cyan halo resting above the head is undeniably the soul of the look; to capture an organic, levitating illusion against the seamless white backdrop, we spent considerable time refining the lighting setup to ensure smooth, uniform facial illumination while keeping background shadows crisp and clean. In post-production, digitally erasing the slender support rod holding the halo yielded that final, ethereal yet cyberpunk aesthetic.
The textural contrast of the fabrics is one of my absolute favorite aspects. The plush weight of the black faux-fur arm warmers creates a striking juxtaposition against the breezy lightness of the white inner dress, while the tiny cyan bows along the sleeve cuffs soften the heavier plush textures. Behind me, the single-sided mechanical wing prop printed with 'SUNNEL' infuses an unmistakable touch of heavy industrial and cyberpunk edge. The styling on the lower half heavily tested our lighting control: the over-the-knee faux-leather Black stockings reflected studio strobes very easily, requiring frequent dabs of loose translucent powder between takes to mute specular highlights and maintain a sleek, matte finish along the leg contours. The cutout thigh straps paired with platform open-toe white sandals complete a classic techwear silhouette, visually elongating leg proportions dramatically.
To harmonize with this distinct idol concept, great care went into makeup and hair styling. Vivid red contact lenses paired with black twin-tails featuring pink peekaboo highlights required constant vigilance to keep hair strands looking buoyant, airy, and effortlessly disheveled before the camera. The poses showcased—whether raising both hands beside my cheeks in a playful pose or perching on the storage case while reaching a hand toward the camera—aimed to channel that spirited, performance-ready stage energy. The black microphone prop in hand tied the character's stage persona together seamlessly. The subtle forward lean in photo 2, complemented by the sleek sheen of the faux-leather stockings, struck a fine balance between fierce cool and bubbly charm, while photo 3—cradling the microphone over my lap with both hands—captured a quiet, focused stillness, with each frame unveiling a different emotional facet. So many intricate details were magnified within this pure white space, from delicate fabric folds to tactile prop textures, making this shoot an absolute joy from start to finish.
