Rushing through the process, I've finally sorted out this set of Zenless Zone Zero Anby convention photos taken at the last CP expo. When shooting back then, we were constantly on the move, and we picked several heavy machinery spots for the background. After receiving the raw photos, I put them aside for a while, but looking at them now, the dim setting and this high-contrast techwear outfit really bring out a great effect.
The color application of this costume is highly recognizable. The black base combined with large areas of fluorescent yellow-green can directly make the character pop out from the complex industrial background under the soft, diffuse reflection light of an overcast day. The gear details are actually much heavier than they look, especially the mechanical backpack with bent pipes on my back, and that serrated greatsword—holding them to strike poses was a real test of arm strength. However, it is precisely this combination of a slightly heavy prop feel and the form-fitting tactical tailoring that supports the hardcore atmosphere of heavy industrial technology.
During the shoot, we specifically looked for a factory area with forklifts and loaders, where the peeling paint and oil stains on those engineering machines became the best backdrop for depth of field. When encountering puddles on the road, the photographer intentionally lowered the camera position to take a few reflection shots, and the ground reflection also brought out the bright colors of the boots. It was actually quite hot on-site; wearing this airtight tactical jacket and leg loops while repeatedly changing weapon-holding poses took quite a lot of effort for a while.
When taking convention photos with my companion Nicole (@棕桠阿狗崽), we helped each other adjust the backpack buckles to ensure there wouldn't be any strange pressure marks when posing. Although doing an outdoor shoot is quite tiring, the heavy industrial texture of this outfit really fits the keynote of Zenless Zone Zero, and the atmosphere of the resulting photos is totally spot on.
