The post-event photos from CPSP2024 at the Guangzhou Anime Convention are finally all sorted out. Using a Godox lighting setup to shoot this gear from Atelier Ryza, I am extremely satisfied with the overall texture rendering. The entire costume features a red, white, brown, and yellow color-block design: red shorts paired with a white shirt, yellow jacket, and dark brown leather straps, offering high color saturation. To faithfully recreate character details, significant effort went into the potion bottles and leather pouches on the belt as well as the asymmetrical leg design—especially this look pairing White tights cosplay with brown heeled tall boots, which is truly a major highlight of the outfit.
Setting up the lights during shooting took quite some time. The Godox AD400Pro served as the main key light from the front, delivering solid illumination that rendered skin texture and fabric weave with great clarity without overexposing the red shorts or yellow collar. The AD200Pro was placed behind as a rim light to outline the edges of the orange hair strands and cape, making the subject pop against the cluttered convention background. The AD100Pro was responsible for filling ambient light to preserve shadow details. Because white tights reflect light strongly, the lighting angles were adjusted repeatedly to bring out the translucent texture of the tights rather than letting them look flat and chalky.
The long staff in hand was massive, with complex metal blade structures at the top; maintaining pose stability while coordinating with framing was quite physically demanding. We tried various poses, such as kneeling on one knee using the long staff to enhance spatial depth, or slightly lifting one leg to accentuate the leg lines. Although this Ryza cosplay gear was quite heavy, finding angles and repeatedly refining poses on-site at the convention to recreate the character's lively, confident, and playful temperament was genuinely enjoyable. Paired with this reddish-brown-accented outfit, it looked remarkably vivid against the cool-toned hall background.
This Guangzhou Anime Convention CPSP2024 experience was delightful. Big thanks to the photographer for dialing in great lighting with Godox equipment, and to friends who helped hold props. Lighting arrangement is truly essential for cosplay; combining pre-production on set and post-processing brought out a wonderful visual presentation of the character's temperament.
