[Shimoe Koharu cosplay] Sensei, Where Does It Hurt?

For this shoot, I wore a Nurse uniform paired with white over-the-knee stockings and black Angel wings, topped with a glowing pink halo above my head. The name tag on the outfit and the stethoscope were physical props. The deep V-neckline of the nurse uniform is quite demanding on body proportions, requiring constant adjustments to standing and seated postures during the shoot so the outfit's lines wouldn't be distorted. The pink wig featured voluminous long curls; securing the nurse cap firmly while preventing the halo from falling took quite a bit of time. Because the background was pure white, the contrast of the makeup needed to be dialed up slightly. The black-and-red eye makeup was tailored to complement the character's gaze, keeping the eyes from looking dull or rigid.

Two main poses were prepared for this shoot. The first photo features holding a pink syringe, leaning forward with one hand resting on the floor—this visually elongates the leg lines while pairing with the stethoscope to create an authentic medical examination feel. The second photo is seated with bent knees, clutching a pink clipboard to my chest with hands slightly raised, a relatively more relaxed posture. When cosplaying Shimoe Koharu, the greatest challenge lies in controlling that expression poised between innocence and danger. By fine-tuning the curve of the mouth and the direction of the contact lenses, I was able to convey the interactive question in the caption: 'Sensei, where does it hurt?' The black wings actually had noticeable weight; wearing them for long periods caused back muscle soreness. In the second seated pose, I had to keep my back completely straight throughout to mask the physical strain caused by the wings. To complement the White tights cosplay, the skirt length and seated angle had to be precisely coordinated to avoid wardrobe slips while presenting flattering leg lines.

In this set of photos, the red tube of the stethoscope and the pink medical chart board served as wonderful visual accents against the white background, echoing the pink hair beautifully. The white thigh-high stockings looked crisp and pure under the bright studio lights, and paired with white high heels (though not fully captured in full-body shots), the overall color scheme remained harmonious. I feel the lighting and composition were very clean without clutter, highlighting the character's silhouette effectively. Expression management in this outfit was also an interesting process. Regarding shoot details: positioning the stethoscope slightly to the left on the chest prevented it from blocking the neckline; maintaining a soft wrist curve while holding the syringe kept the gesture from looking stiff; and holding the clipboard with naturally relaxed arms.

Since it was a white studio shoot, we had to continually adjust angles to keep the wings and halo from blending awkwardly into the background. To ensure the stethoscope tubing formed a natural arc, I had to keep my upper body steady while my assistant adjusted it, which also helped project a sense of professional poise. The fabric required water spraying and steaming to eliminate any wrinkles, making the entire routine on shoot day quite exhausting. White stockings tend to blow out easily against a pure white background, so post-processing required controlling highlight levels on the stockings, preserving texture while keeping them aligned with the overall color balance. Fortunately, working seamlessly with the photographer through posing and guidance allowed us to capture expressions true to the character's setting.

This shoot was a very satisfying recent endeavor. Meticulous effort went into prop preparation, hair and makeup refinement, and post-production details. In particular, styling this nurse outfit prompted me to think carefully about posing naturally in front of the lens. Tying in that signature question from the theme, maintaining this interactive perspective truly enhanced the narrative depth of the photos. It was a very enjoyable process, and I hope this series reflects my understanding of the character as a cosplayer in the 2D culture.
