[Cyrene Cosplay] Honkai: Star Rail: Spinning the Starry Sky Skirt Hem in the Rain

Shooting Cyrene this time was truly a massive challenge. The weather on the day of the shoot was terrible, with drizzle falling on and off. Our original plan was an open outdoor shoot, but fortunately, the European-style architecture we chose featured grand covered corridors. The rain turned into a natural reflector, adding remarkable clarity and atmosphere to the surroundings. However, the costume and wig were remarkably heavy. To recreate an airy feel, the Starry sky skirt hem was crafted with multiple layers of lightweight tulle over a starry sky patterned lining. Combined with the oversized halo and wig, it felt like an immense strain on my neck the moment I put it on.

To capture the billowing skirt effect, I must have twirled and tossed the dress hundreds of times. Each attempt required finding the exact angle while syncing with the photographer's shutter. The wet, slippery ground made balancing on high heels along the stone steps a pure physical workout. Toward the end, my arms were too sore to lift, and I was genuinely questioning my life choices. Professionally speaking, shooting a wide-hem cosplay is all about mastering gravity and momentum. Without an electric wind machine, I had to rely entirely on my own spins to propel the heavy fabric. We tested numerous angles and forces to fully display the starry lining, finally capturing that moment of regal Cyrene aura.

In post-processing, photographer Beixing dedicated immense care. Because the overcast rainy lighting looked flat and grey, he bumped up the highlights and deepened the background in post, creating a high-key, fairy-tale mood. To capture that ethereal, weightless look, multiple layers of tulle were used for the skirt alongside an inner lining featuring the starry sky pattern. Combined with the massive halo and the wig on my head, it felt like my neck was going to snap the moment I put it on.

Toward the end, my arms were so sore I could barely lift them, truly questioning my existence. Professionally speaking, shooting this kind of voluminous skirt in cosplay is all about mastering gravity and wind. Without a wind blower, I had to rely entirely on my own rotational force to get the fabric moving. To fully showcase the starry sky lining, we tested countless angles and exertion techniques before finally capturing that instant of perfect Cyrene elegance.

For post-processing, the photographer, Beixing, put in a tremendous amount of effort. Because the overcast, rainy lighting leaned gray, the brightness was deliberately boosted while darkening the background to create a high-key, dreamy fairy-tale aesthetic. The falling petals were added in post; coupled with the European architecture and the blue rose in hand, the romantic atmosphere was fully elevated.

Although the process was grueling and even a bit messy, seeing the final photos—the weightless flutter of the skirt and the pure, sacred presence radiating from each shot—made every bit of effort worth it. We shot multiple poses for this look, and the final selection is one of my personal favorites, especially how well the translucent texture of the tulle was rendered. After all, the original goal was to do justice to Cyrene's beauty in Honkai: Star Rail, and I hope anyone who sees these photos can feel that ripple of cherished memories.
