[Minami Kotori cosplay] Experiencing the Unique Charm of Love Live! for the First Time at a Polaroid Studio

Visiting a Polaroid shop in character for the first time was an experience filled with uncertainty. Since it was an impromptu decision, I didn't have time to prepare the official outfit, so I quickly searched my closet and put together the closest match—a self-assembled cosplay costume resembling the school uniform. Though noticeably a bit OOC (out of character), standing in that retro Polaroid shop surrounded by various slogans and posters sparked an unexpectedly wonderful chemistry.

The store featured rich background elements, from vintage English typography posters and huge Japanese ID photo banners to classic Polaroid details. Combined with the wig and ribbon, the overall ambiance was instantly elevated. Working with the flash was fascinating; since Polaroids offer no preview, pressing the shutter every time felt like opening a blind box—you had no idea what the lighting and shadows would look like the next second.

As a cosplay beginner, I tried to stay as natural and relaxed as possible in front of the lens. Gestures like resting my chin on my hand, adjusting my bangs, or simply sitting down and looking at the camera helped match the character's personality and convey the warmth of a school idol. The physical filter of the Polaroid film naturally carried a vintage film texture, which made up for the lack of detail in my self-assembled outfit and brought harmony to the overall color tones.

Finally holding the physical photo print brought a tangible sense of ritual that a phone screen could never replicate. Slipping it into a handmade card with handwritten notes perfectly preserved the emotions of that moment. This experience made me realize that cosplaying is not just about recreating a character, but a fantastic way to immerse yourself in their world and the surrounding atmosphere. Despite the costume's shortcomings, the joy of the shoot and the unique vibe of the photos far exceeded my expectations, leaving an unforgettable, fresh impression.
