[Furina Cosplay] Afternoon in the Seaside Garden, the Earthly Reality of the Nation of Hydro

Having completed this outdoor shoot under the intense sunshine, looking back at the photos on the screen now, I can still feel the refreshing sea breeze blowing through the skirt hem. This set of photos attempted two completely distinct scenes—outdoor nature and indoor vintage—hoping to display the character's temperament of coexisting elegance and agility in a more three-dimensional way for this seaside location shoot.

Let's talk about the overall makeup and styling concept first. The styling of the wig is one of the keys to the restoration, especially that iconic ahoge, which needed repeated fixing to ensure it stayed firm even under strong outdoor wind conditions. For the eye makeup, I selected a translucent blue-purple gradient color scheme. To fit the character's cool yet slightly playful trait, I didn't use sharp eyeliner but focused on using highlights to brighten the inner corners of the eyes and the aegyosal area, paired with cool-toned blush to balance facial dimensionality with the gentleness of the Hydro element. The main focus of the entire makeup lies in being clean and translucent, so it can present a natural and flawless state under harsh light.

The design of the costume is extremely layered, with the main blue and white tones interwoven, and the neckline and chest adorned with exquisite silver chains and teardrop jewels. What satisfies me the most is the deep blue decoration at the waist and the wide gradient trailing fabric cascading down behind me. This light tulle material is incredibly ethereal, presenting a semi-translucent flowing light effect under the refraction of sunlight. Especially when there is a gentle breeze by the sea, the skirt hem lifts with the wind, providing a very powerful visual tension. However, the lightweight material also means a higher difficulty in organizing; particularly when sitting down on the outdoor iron bench, it took a lot of time to adjust the fabric stacking around my body and on the back of the chair, trying my best to make the skirt folds present a naturally draping curve.

The choice of shooting venue added a lot of color to the entire photo set. The outdoor ocean-view corridor features classic white Roman columns, surrounded by color-saturated pink roses and purple vine flowers, coupled with the azure sea surface and green cliffs in the distance, achieving a powerful collision between cool tones and warm florals. Although the intense outdoor natural light can save a lot of post-processing workflows, it also added difficulty to the shoot; the cooperation between the camera position and the reflector had to be highly synchronized, otherwise, the shadows on the face would look very harsh. Contrasting with the brightness outdoors, the set of European vintage photos completed indoors at the end appeared more settled. The vintage pattern lattice windows, carved background walls, wooden parquet flooring, plus that bouquet of pink roses as a prop, directly maxed out the atmosphere for this Cosplay photography project.

In terms of posture performance, besides the dignified sitting pose, I also attempted movements of lifting both sides of the skirt hem to stand gracefully, using the wide blue lower hem to create flowing lines. For the indoor set of shoots, I changed into transparent thick-heeled sandals paired with gold chain accessories at the ankles; the exquisite details of the feet could beautifully elongate the visual proportion, complementing the overall magnificent styling wonderfully. Although the entire shoot consumed a lot of physical energy, being able to deeply fuse the character's exquisiteness with the beauty of the scene made the entire process full of fun and satisfaction in recording this slice of 2D daily life with Genshin Impact.
