For this shoot of Minami Kotori's Concert version performance outfit, the moment the costume arrived, I was determined to recreate that shimmering radiance of the live stage. Let's talk about the fitting experience and the nuances of the shoot. The visual layering of this outfit is extraordinary: the bodice is rich with white lace and cascades of ruffles, paneled with a pink sequined corset bodice. The corset has a firm, structured cut that neatly cinches the waist for an elongating, flattering silhouette, though it slightly restricts deep bending. The skirt features a voluminous flare design with an outer shell of sparkling pink sequins and inner tiers of white and baby-blue lace; when twirling, the flare spreads into a gorgeous arc packed with authentic stage presence.
For the wig, I trimmed Minami Kotori's signature blunt straight bangs and face-framing sidelocks, striving to embody the character's trademark sweetness and buoyant vitality. The headwear was completed with a delicate white lace mini-hat accented with a green ribbon bow; it is exquisitely detailed, though it required several bobby pins anchored into the wig mesh to keep it from slipping during dynamic dance poses. For makeup, I opted for a dewy, translucent base, applying pinkish-coral eyeshadow to amplify that vibrant idol glow, finished with natural contact lenses. Because I was wearing White tights cosplay, I specifically chose a gentle compression style to ensure clean, slender leg lines without any bulkiness. The platform Mary Janes provided fantastic height elevation, though standing for hours tested foot endurance, so I consciously kept my weight centered on the balls of my feet.
Inside the studio, the lighting technician arranged two large softboxes paired with reflectors, aiming to sculpt smooth skin textures while ensuring the sequins reflected light evenly without blown-out hot spots. In my posing, I deliberately channeled the dynamic momentum of live concert performances—extending one arm outward or posing poised as if launching into choreography. With the skirt on the shorter side, camera angles were strictly managed to avoid any wardrobe mishaps. While wearing this multi-layered stage costume inside the studio grew quite warm, witnessing that electric stage atmosphere come to life before the camera made every second worthwhile.
