This set is our Highlander Twins Cosplay shot alongside a seaside railway. My partner @Baifan and I portrayed the twin characters, with these navy blue uniforms custom-prepared specifically for this shoot. The weather was exceptionally clear, with blue skies and white clouds acting as a naturally transparent outdoor filter.

The details of the costume stay very true to the original design. The primary color is deep navy blue with eye-catching bright blue trim along the edges, accented by a row of golden metal buttons down the front placket. Epaulets sit on the shoulders, accompanied by iconic patches on the left shoulder and right arm. The uniform cap also has great presence, its brim and front golden badge reflecting an elegant luster under bright sunlight. The white inner gloves and the crossbody black leather belt give the entire Cosplay outfit a clean and capable silhouette. For the lower half, we paired it with white tights and deep navy mid-calf boots.

In Outdoor photography, lighting and wind often bring unexpected surprises. For instance, when shooting against the light, the green long hair was outlined with a clear golden rim by the sunlight, and the rim light on the elf ears stood out vividly. To give the photos a greater sense of spatial depth, we used rocks and wooden structures as footholds and props. Different high and low angles enhanced the visual extension of the uniform and tights. The white tights, in particular, looked impeccably clean under outdoor sunlight, while the navy boots created a visual cutoff at the ankles, elongating the leg lines.

We experimented with three different compositions during the shoot. The first was sitting on wooden frames with legs naturally crossed and hanging down—a relaxed pose that fully showcased the details of the tights and boots, perfect for conveying youthful girlishness. The second was a full-body shot on the rocky reef doing peace signs and salutes, reinforcing the playful and lively nature of the characters. The third was a low-angle close-up where we leaned in close, emphasizing facial makeup, hair color, and the texture of the elf ears, with white-gloved hands resting against the cheeks for a gentle and focused mood.

What pleased us most about this outdoor shoot was how harmoniously the uniform blended with the natural environment. The metal fasteners and leather accessories carried a solid weight in the sunlight, while the uniform fabric maintained its structured drape without collapsing easily. Walking and adjusting positions created aesthetically pleasing dimensional folds and creases in the clothing. Although the gusty wind occasionally ruffled our caps and wigs, it unintentionally added a wonderful sense of dynamic beauty to the frames. The color palette of blue, white, and green looked exceptionally fresh against the backdrop of the beach and blue ocean.

As cosplayers, we always feel that the harmony between venue and costume is crucial. The railway, sea breeze, sunshine, and wooden structures came together to form a rich atmospheric foundation for this photoshoot. During shooting, we also strived to stay in character, using body language closely matched to their personalities and the environment. This photo set represents our visual expression of these characters. Styling the wig was also quite challenging; we used light lime-green fibers that were airy and flowed beautifully in the breeze. For makeup, we chose warm orange-brown eyeshadows paired with slightly glossy lip gloss, balancing out the green hair while preventing faces from looking washed out under intense sun. The elf ears were custom-made from soft silicone, blending seamlessly with the skin edges for a natural transition. We also prepared two pairs of White tights cosplay stockings to handle any snags or sand stains outdoors. All of these were essential details for pulling off this uniform cosplay.

Both the shooting experience and the final results were deeply rewarding, and we are glad to share some details of this uniform and our attempts at bringing these characters to life.
