The combination of this red-and-white holiday outfit with a vintage sofa was planned during pre-production to achieve a flawless, high-end texture. The shoot took nearly a full day: the morning was spent setting up the Christmas tree scene, and we only moved to the vintage sofa in the afternoon. In terms of props and garments, the red-and-white dress is quite intricate—especially the lace along the bodice and skirt hem, which had to be smoothed out constantly while posing to preserve layered dimensions and prevent creases. Grooming the wig also took considerable time; holding spray was specifically used to ensure crisp results on camera.
In the Christmas tree photo, we surrounded ourselves with piles of faux snow and plush toys, which, combined with warm table lamps, produced an intense festive ambiance. However, that space was relatively cramped, requiring multiple takes to fine-tune our seated poses and the angle of holding the gift boxes. By contrast, the second vintage sofa composition boasts much stronger visual tension. To capture the translucent sheen of the stockings in this White tights cosplay, photographer Kuroneko specifically employed side-backlighting to make the leg lines pop. The leg-crossing pose in high heels demanded great muscle control, requiring repeated adjustments to the toe angle to make the calves look as slender as possible. The cosplayer sitting on the sofa also adjusted for a long time so that holding the wreath wouldn't block the drape of the skirt.
Working as a duo—passing props back and forth, checking collars, and fixing hair accessories—greatly boosted our shooting efficiency. During breaks, we reviewed playback footage together to discuss which angles could be refined. The set dressing was meticulously curated: the golden curtains behind and the antique rug harmonized wonderfully with the red-and-white color palette. The classic pairing of white stockings and red dresses, enhanced by holiday accents in this Japanese cosplay shoot, produced a deeply festive aesthetic—serving as a wonderful Christmas gift for both myself and my partner from Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-.
