This Nero Cosplay Poolside photoshoot process was more physically demanding than expected. To match Nero's flamboyant and confident aura in Fate/Grand Order, we discussed the clothing for a long time in advance. The final chosen white sheer cover-up paired with a red cross-strap Bikini looked very strong in design on land; the drawstring and floral pleat details on the white veil were exquisitely processed. Once in the water, the translucent material would immediately cling to the skin, revealing the red and white swimsuit underneath, making the visual layering very rich. Green contact lenses were the focus of this makeup. Although opening eyes during underwater shooting required overcoming physical discomfort, as long as it could present that bright yet slightly aggressive gaze in the lens, repeatedly entering the water was totally worth it.

The pool water temperature at night was lower than imagined, and the soaked long hair clinging to the cheeks and neck instead added a bit of messy aesthetic. The set of photos lying on the swim ring required core strength to maintain balance while keeping the upper body relaxed and stretched. The photographer kept adjusting the lighting angle on the side to ensure the reflection on the water surface wasn't overexposed; the composition of this set of photos was slowly polished out through these few fine-tunes. Walking into the water and holding up the skirt hem actually made one feel that the water-absorbed white veil became very heavy, making it a bit laborious to drag in the water, but this dynamic effect of the skirt hem spreading on the water surface was an effect that could never be achieved on land. In the photos sitting by the pool, the soaked white veil tightly clung to the body, making the contrast between the red straps and the white veil even more obvious. To present the best state, I repeatedly adjusted my sitting posture by the pool, allowing the leg lines to extend as naturally as possible.

As the portrayer of Nero, I feel that this character inherently carries a trait of not hesitating to showcase her own brilliance. In the Fate/Grand Order setting, she wears a red battle skirt with gorgeous decorations, and this time it was changed to a swimsuit setting outfit. Although lacking heavy armor and weapons, the red and white color scheme still retains the character's iconic colors. During the shoot, I would deliberately add a bit of composure and dominance to my gaze and body language, imagining that confidence when facing the lens, that feeling of controlling the whole scene. Although the scene changed to a casual pool, the core of the character cannot be lost.

The whole shoot lasted for several hours, from dusk until it was completely dark. Makeup touch-ups were very frequent during this period, because every time entering the water would wash away part of the eyeshadow and lipstick, and tissues had to be used to dry the water on the hair ends to prevent water from flowing into the eyes and affecting the contact lenses. Although the whole process was hard, watching the light reflecting off the skin and the wet hair clinging to the collarbones made it feel like all this physical exertion was worth it. Underwater shooting is different from studio portrait, with more uncontrollable factors like water fluctuations and light refraction, but it is precisely these factors that give this set of photos an extra kind of flowing vitality. This Poolside photoshoot attempt also gave me new experience in underwater physical expression, which can be considered a very fulfilling creative experience.
