The Serene Midnight concept for Tomimi is genuinely a match made in heaven with a summer swimming pool. To capture the ideal aesthetic, I soaked in the water for nearly an entire afternoon; the cerulean mosaic pool tiles juxtaposed against pure white garments created an intense chromatic visual impact.

Let's talk about the outfit styling and its dynamic performance submerged in water. The white wig was adorned with an oversized floral headpiece and accented by signature black cross-shaped hair clips across the bangs. The top is a white halter-neck crop top accented with black square motifs, while the lower briefs are veiled under multiple tiers of translucent white chiffon. While these chiffon drapes look unassuming on dry land, the moment they enter the water, their fluid floating movement mimics fish tails or aquatic fins—becoming the most delightfully surprising visual highlight of this shoot.

The staff held in hand was another core focal point. For canonical fidelity, the staff crown was sculpted with complex seashell and skeletal structures, tied with fluttering blue ribbons. Although it appears weightlessly divine, its solid core material made holding it aloft for hours quite taxing on the arms. Navigating through the pool with water resistance pushing against the weight of the staff tested my core stability to maintain an effortless, elegant stance.

Regarding cosmetics, since shooting occurred right at the water's edge and halfway submerged, waterproofing was of paramount importance. The combination of reddish-brown contact lenses and warm red-toned eyeshadow popped vividly against the cool blue environment, accentuating the character's soulful presence. Synthetic wig fibers easily cling flat to the scalp once damp, so between takes I constantly fluffed the wig with fingers or a fine comb to preserve airy volume.

Lighting throughout the day was stellar; sunlight kissed the rippling water surface, projecting organic caustic light patterns across my skin and white fabric. In Photo 2, seated in the shallow pool zone, capturing the split second where water trickled down the staff alongside shimmering surface reflections required virtually no heavy post-processing. Posing atop the transparent pool float in Photo 3 took extensive trial and error to prevent capsizing while keeping limbs gracefully elongated—engaging toe points and finger tension throughout—yet the resulting languid tranquility in the final frames made every effort worthwhile.

The hardest hurdle of aquatic shooting was eye strain: maintaining a serene expression often meant keeping eyes wide open against harsh glare bouncing off the water surface. Blinding as it was, seeing those limpid, crystal-clear eyes in the final edits was deeply rewarding. I hope this photoshoot delivers a soothing splash of summer coolness to everyone.
