[Ning Rongrong cosplay] Dreamy fairy vibe of Soul Land manhua version

This set of photos shares the official photoshoot for the manhua version of Ning Rongrong. From testing the makeup, this outfit had me agonizing over fabric textures for a long time. The white dress material needed to be light and translucent while having enough structure to maintain the drape of the sweetheart neckline on the chest, so I ultimately chose elastic satin chiffon. The final photos under soft lighting certainly didn't disappoint me. For the bright yellow short outer jacket, I specifically selected a matte mercerized fabric to avoid clashing reflections with the inner white dress, softening the color layering.

The wig is the iconic pink short hair with straight bangs, which received fine trimming and styling this time to avoid looking too heavy or flat under highlights. Paired with light blue contact lenses, the gaze instantly stepped out of daily life, adding a touch of fantasy. For makeup, I didn't want it too heavy; the focus was on clean base makeup, using soft contouring techniques to define facial structure, and layering a touch of highlighter under the eyes to brighten facial features while matching the transparent feel in the manhua.

The set design team was amazing, building a pure white classical garden atmosphere on site. Hanging pearl chains combined with pink tulle backdrops and large areas of purple-and-white faux floral arrangements created a highly unified visual effect. The iron birdcage in my hands was a great bonus prop that, combined with elements like white picture frames, immediately created a fairytale-like narrative feel. During shooting, the photographer constantly guided my interaction rhythm with flowers and the cage, as sweet, dreamy themes suffer most if posing feels too deliberate.

The manhua character's outfit is iconic, especially the bright yellow tights paired with white sandals. The tights offered great elasticity without slipping down; stepping on pink satin fabric during shooting created an eye-catching color contrast. For the featured cover, I picked the second photo—a three-quarter seated posture with my body slightly relaxed, holding a bouquet in my hands, centered perfectly in the frame without cutting off any edges. It accommodated both the yellow stockings and skirt folds within the depth of field, exuding an effortless sense of comfort.

As for photography and post-production, we opted for a bright, high-key soft light style. Shot with a wide aperture, it maintained a beautiful background bokeh, giving the white railings and floral arrangements a dreamy picture-within-a-picture texture. In post-processing, the focus was on color harmonization rather than extreme saturation, slightly lowering color intensity to yield a delicate macaron palette. Besides removing blemishes, subtle skin textures were preserved to ensure the real-life Chinese anime cosplay didn't look artificially manipulated.

Regarding character personality, fitting this outfit required capturing her elegant yet playfully mischievous side. While bearing the cool aloofness of a wealthy heiress, the eyes still needed agility. For this Cosplay photoshoot, beyond restoring costumes and props, I put more thought into creating breathing room within the visual frame. Sometimes styles don't need to be overly complex; controlling shadow areas across this white-yellow-pink palette yields exceptional softness.

Everyone was exhausted after the long process, but seeing the results in the viewfinder made the time spent selecting fabrics and adjusting flower placement completely worthwhile. The process of taking a 2D character into real life and recreating a world through Anime-style photography is my understanding of this piece.
