Striking while the iron is hot, I wanted to document the behind-the-scenes details of shooting this Vivian look from Zenless Zone Zero at Comiket 108.
This project centered on recreating her blue and white sailor uniform paired with elf ears. The wig is straight long hair featuring a pale lavender to white gradient with seamless root transitions. Securing the oversized dark blue ribbon on top required dozens of bobby pins; because of its heavy weight, invisible wire reinforcement was necessary to keep it from slipping backward. Lighting was abundant on-site, but convention foot traffic was dense. To find an uncluttered background, the photographer and I circled the venue multiple times before choosing an open space with yellow and black barricades. Beyond being lore-accurate, wielding the massive umbrella prop served as a handy shield against distracting background clutter and passing crowds.
The garment tailored crisp, structured lines: the sailor collar carried classic stripes with a blue-green gem at the center connecting to navy suspenders, utilizing structured fabric so the skirt and straps retained their sharp contours. The skirt hem featured scalloped edging with delicate pink bows dotting the bodice and pleats. White over-the-knee socks were paired with blue strappy thigh garters and a silver heart pendant, complementing the hemline with streamlined proportions on camera. Handling both the large umbrella and a long staff left both hands occupied, restricting poses, but angling slightly sideways and raising my chin to let red contacts catch the strobe brought lively dynamism. Reddish-brown eyeshadow, crimson lips, and sculpted contours complemented the elf ears for an ethereal, otherworldly feel. Despite aching shoulders from balancing props all day, the vivid textures and lines made this Anime-style photography set an absolute triumph.
