This shoot features the official cosplay photos of Denia from Wuthering Waves, themed around her birthday night. The overall scene was arranged in a Gothic style banquet setting, with stained glass in the background, paired with a red tablecloth and golden candlesticks. When I first got this outfit, I felt it had a lot of details. The pink-purple wig took quite a bit of time to style. The black-and-white dress paired with a blue gemstone choker and red gloves feels very ceremonial to wear. In particular, to match the visual restoration of the image props, I specially ordered an orange-flavored Birthday cake just like in the description, topped with hard candies and dried fruits, which looked beautiful.
During the shoot, to match the character's state at the birthday banquet, I tried many poses. For example, the first photo captures a look of quiet waiting, holding a knife and fork with a slightly spaced-out gaze; the second is a close-up of cutting or lifting the cake while the candle flame is still flickering; the third shows her resting her chin on her hand, revealing a slightly lost or calm expression. At that time, to capture the texture of the red gloves well, I repeatedly adjusted my hand movements. Also, to match the details of the props, I discussed the lighting angle with the photographer to make the light filtering through the stained glass fall more naturally on the face.
Although the preparation for this photo set was somewhat tedious, I am quite satisfied with the character's atmospheric feel presented in the end. With a single candle stuck in the cake, even though it's a birthday, the overall vibe carries a bit of a cold and lonely feeling. After the shoot, everyone gathered around to eat the cake, which felt like celebrating this birthday together. I am very grateful to everyone who was willing to accompany me in shooting this set of photos.
