[Cartethyia Cosplay] Freezing the ice-blue blade of Wuthering Waves in light and shadow

As a cosplayer long focused on character recreation, I chose to challenge Cartethyia from Wuthering Waves this time. When I first saw this character's concept art, that cool, ethereal, divine texture blending the Water element and ice element, alongside her posture hovering in mid-air holding a long blade, deeply captured my attention. This is not merely a simple dress-up, but a visual attempt to recreate CG-level scenes in reality.

During costume preparation, we set aside conventional heavy fabrics and instead selected interwoven navy blue and bright white materials with reflective textures and delicate grain. Considering her signature blonde hair and long elf ears, I paid special attention to fluffiness and layering when wearing the wig to simulate that soft state drifting in water flow. Additionally, how to stand barefoot on a cold floor and strike a natural, agile pose was a major test of physical expression.

Regarding the concept for this shoot, we wanted to closely match the line written in the post, "May you fall into the abyss wearing glory," creating a paradoxical beauty of falling and ascending coexisting in a cathedral frozen underwater. Special thanks go to photographer Chenhun Guangying for controlling on-site lighting—especially the cool-toned ambiance—and to Canglanxing for mind-blowing post-production VFX support. It is precisely their exquisite craftsmanship that transformed an otherwise flat backdrop into Fantasy photography imagery of galloping water horses and splashing water spray. The floating feel of the central long sword was accomplished through repeatedly adjusting our center of gravity and aligning with photographic angles.

When shooting the solo close-up in Photo 4, I tried lifting my body's center of gravity slightly to simulate the moment of lightly leaping in a magic circle. At this moment, the wide blue skirt hem and streamers turned into flowing water ripples under post-production rendering, with golden long hair spreading freely backward; the entire composition fully expressed the character's agility, power, and pre-battle resoluteness. To make the dynamic feel of the water spray more natural, even though it was a simple studio shoot, several position adjustments allowed us to continuously feel the energy interaction between character and environment.

Cartethyia embodies both softness and sharpness, which is precisely the emotion I wanted to convey through this cosplay most. Intertwined in water hues, light, and shadows, I deeply experienced the combat prowess hidden beneath her calm demeanor. I hope this meticulously polished photo set allows more friends to feel the unique charm of this elf character in the world of Wuthering Waves.
