[Arturia cosplay] Reshaping the Dark style Gothic style Splendour-Seeking Heart

From costume preparation to live execution, this Arturia Splendour-Seeking Heart styling was quite a test overall. When I saw the character design, I really wanted to restore that mysterious and oppressive Dark style Gothic style temperament. In terms of costume selection, it mainly features a white uniform body spliced with black lines and gold piping, with a black bow tie at the neckline, and an overall three-dimensional tailoring. Underneath the dark pleated skirt on the lower body, I chose Black stockings to match. To increase the aura and the completeness of the styling, I wore glossy black long leather gloves on both hands, and the crown of thorns on top of the head is the key to the entire styling; once worn, the atmosphere was immediately established.

The layout of the shooting venue also closely matches the character's attributes. The seat is a black-and-purple carved Gothic throne, with a purplish-red cushion of moderate firmness, which just harmonizes the large area of black in the frame. A large metal birdcage was placed on the right side, containing several warm yellow light sources, which, combined with the cold white light coming through the arched window on the left, formed a cool-warm contrast. The floor is paved with a highly reflective black material, reflecting the outline of the throne and the reflection of the birdcage, creating a very rich sense of spatial layering.

During the shoot, to showcase the overall proportions and frame tension, I tried different postures. The first and second pictures mainly feature me sitting upright on the throne with legs crossed. Because the skirt hem is relatively short, to prevent the line of sight in the lens from feeling cramped, I consciously adjusted the angle of my legs to let the texture of the Black stockings naturally show under the light. My waist is slightly straight and my shoulders are slightly lowered, seeking to convey the character's unhurried posture.

In terms of props, that uniquely shaped instrument is the focus. This instrument is heavier than expected. To maintain the elegance of the playing posture in front of the lens—holding the bow with the right hand and supporting the instrument body with the left hand—core strength must be used to stabilize the balance of the upper body. After shooting a few sets of actions, my arms indeed felt sore and swollen. The two-handed playing posture in Picture 3 has strict requirements for angles, requiring constant micro-adjustment of the instrument's inclination and the body's sideways orientation.

The perspective of Picture 4 adopts a slightly elevated angle. I took off my black high heels and stepped directly onto the clean ground wearing Black stockings, playing with a red apple in my hand. This angle has a very good visual extension effect on the legs, and coupled with the matte feel that comes with the Black stockings, the visual center of gravity of the frame naturally falls on the lower body. To make the action more natural, I lightly touched my jaw with my fingers, with a relaxed expression, trying to convey a casual yet aggressive emotion.

Throughout the shooting process, to better blend the character with the complex background, I made many posture adjustments in coordination with the lighting. In a dark-toned environment, black-textured clothes and gloves easily blend into a blob, so it is necessary to use reflections and backlighting in the scene to outline the contours. Although shooting in a low-temperature studio while wearing stockings was a bit tough, seeing the perfect match between the light and shadow details in the final photos and the character traits of Arturia Splendour-Seeking Heart made all the preliminary preparations and physical consumption on-site worthwhile.
